Watch the VIX. Consider things stable if it goes below 15. Consider an upcoming dip if it goes above 20, and a major crash if bonds spike.
I don't yet know a way to time when bonds will spike, so you have to be invested before that happens. You don't need to perfectly time anything, and those indicators are usually pretty reliable. If you want to be even safer, you can use the shoeshine boy indicator in conjunction with this.
The other anon's TQQQ shilling is actually pretty good if adjusted due to lags: go 100% on TQQQ. If TMF starts moving up fast, swap to TMF. When TMF spikes, get the fuck out with a generous trailing stop (movement is typically very smooth upward until it starts dumping). When market's climbing back up, put everything in TQQQ but keep watching TMF. If it goes up again, get out again, as many times as needed.

Anyone else get the feeling corona is a giant red herring? A lot of shit was going down before corona. Short term credit markets started to collapse late last year with the repo interventions in sep '19. Stocks melted up in jan-feb '20, but we now know the US economy was already in recession in feb. The stock market crashed in late feb / early march, before the lockdowns.

It was only after the stock market crashed, and a massive liquidity crisis emerged, that all of a sudden the GOP desperately needed a multi trillion dollars stimulus. It was only after the stock market crash did Trump all of a sudden support lockdowns. And now no one can know where the stimulus money went, who benefited, because the treasury says its "proprietary" information.

IMO the massive debt bubble started to collapse late last year and corona ended up being a god send for politicians as a scapegoat and excuse for massive money printing and bailouts. So I don't think a second wave or vaccine or really anything related to corona matters. Our debt fueled economy pumped up by a years of loose money and irresponsible fiscal policy collapsed and it will take years to recover regardless of covid developments.

Buy buying now you're just bailing people out and we won't see markets this high for years.

You're not going to a 3 michelin stars restaurant on 500k unless that's what you're making in a year or plan to live alone and splurge your whole life rather than raise a family. You don't plot shit if you're not part of an elite group of some kind. Conversely, jehovah's witness can plot nefarious plans yet have no money. Same for terrorist organizations.

Trump was the second fastest acting head of state in the world, with taiwan being fastest. The leftarded states refused to ban planes from china as trump asked, and instead told their people to go hug a chink. Surprising precisely nobody, the places that were more hardcore on criticizing trump's request that they stop chinese flights were the most affected. He made that request in January, and built a corona response force almost immediately.
Fauci acts on behalf of public health. Public anything is not about telling the truth or informing the public, it's about tricking the public into doing things they want to do based on some agenda. For example, he might say the virus is lethal 50% of the time if he really, really needs people to get in their houses (at the cost of possible stampedes and widespread panic, and loss of trust at the end of the episode). He might say the next day that it's all over and the virus is gone/there is no second wave, if the economy is so damaged that staying closed any longer might destroy the nation. As you might notice, this has nothing to do with health at all, and everything is a lie. This is how public anything operates. This is why you should never, ever trust a single word out of the mouth of anyone who has ever had contact with public anything (public healthcare "professionals", public education "professionals", etc.).
Trump does care greatly about being elected again, however since his competition is biden and even normalfags that don't even live in the US and are vocally against trump publicly call him senile, it's already in the bag.
Finally, coronavirus is literally, LITERALLY just the flu.

Next week for covered calls I am doing SWBI, CCL, and KR. SWBI and KR are quite solid. CCL is a bit of a gamble. You can also try Oracle, they are decently safe but also less rewarding. Last week I did CHWY, GME, and PLAY. CHWY and GME were good, but PLAY did not work out as well (just as I feared). Remember to do your own research!

In other news, you might want to learn about bonds. If you go to your brokers bond search, you can search for bonds with certain ratings and Yield to Maturity. The rating indicates the likelihood of bankruptcy, with A's being near zero, B's are safe-ish, and low B's and C's are probably going bankrupt. The yield to maturity is the percentage per year you make by holding the bond. This means if you bought a bond at 12% YTM, you're effectively earning 12% guaranteed per year. If a company does go bankrupt, it doesn't necessarily mean you lose everything either, you might still receive partial payment or shares/bonds in a new company if it survives a restructure.
I have bought Nordstrom, Royal Caribbean, and US Steel bonds for 10%+ YTM.

Now according to Trump corona is "literally just the flue" but also a "once in a century" thing no one saw coming. According to Trump he had the strongest economy, the only reason the economy is worse than the great depression right now is because of a bad flu season. But also corona is no big deal, but which is it? Trump's deflections and rhetoric flip flop so much his own supporters have whiplash trying to keep up with the talking points.

So July won't be a massive sell off and there won't be another gap between the society struggling and wall street accelerating it because they're scared again.
Wall street is struggling, as society is.

The main question being, how did it come so conveniently? A black man, slowly tortured by a white cop, perfectly caught on camera. How could a setting that important/useful could emerge, knowing it's totally based on an obvious ken-minded fucker (by definition chaotic and betrayers of orders/directives)? Is a behavior influence that precise even possible? Were social networks just oriented towards racial animosity until it fitted a ken-minded fucker?

Money flows into stocks but also out through companies selling shares. Companies have stopped buy backs, cut dividends and are issuing new shares to shore up finances. Market capitalization will increase but share price won't necessarily if there is dilution. I'd much rather put my money into assets with real scarcity like real estate, gold, or bitcoin to hedge against low interest rates and low earnings. But personally I think inflation will rise and rates will increase double killing stocks with outflows both due the increase in risk free rates and companies selling equity to survive the depression.

When it comes to this sort of thing I trade entirely on TA and disregard opinions about Fed intervention and all that. I see high volume spike on significant red. A gap up rejected the following day. Volume indicator slipped in to negative, oscillator reading sell, shorter period moving averages broken below. That's a short. There will be a move to the downside again next week but the strength and longevity of it is the question. Sometimes when these setups appear on indexes it results in gap down, buy up, bullish trend resumed.

I was also thinking that, yes. But the oil market is really blurry and looks like ael
Since three weeks they cut down supplies, and so the price must have gone up. But it didn't too much It topped 431$ at max.
Because the demand didn't grew back that fast. People maybe took back their cars, but the economy is still running at 70% because of unemployment and social mesures.
The oil chads will probably rise the supplies one or two weeks after the end of the next contract (start of july), so the price will probably falling down, adding to the insecurity of the Q2 july market.

Ive invested with etrade before, made a nice hundo here and there but never anything this serious before. I know the economy is super volatile at the moment and its a pretty good time to invest, should i just make a portfolio of DOW stocks that are sure to recover well? I am planning on putting around 2/3 of it in some mutual fund, but I want to put some of it into various stocks that I can play around with and reinvest to play the market. I know metals and bonds are memes but not a lot past that. Any literature yall can recommend?

Most people here are losing the little bit they have trying to hussle because they will never reach your financial level. Take some time to think about things, you JUST got that money so you aren't used to having it. Get comfortable with it, think about the stuff you want and enjoy life a bit as a non broke person. Talk to people with money, then wait for the right opportunity. Actually NOW is a great opportunity but you can make a lot or lose everything. > the crash wasn’t corona
Corona is bad enough that lockdowns were unavoidable, the crash came when covid started taking off for real in Europe and everyone realized it’s going to happen here too and we’re going to need lockdowns. This, in turn, caused a crash because essentially what you listed, but can be summed up: evertone knew the economy was really leveraged and that American companies can’t actually survive 1 month without revenue. Companies have not got any emergency funds to survive a rainy day anymore, especially not after 2008. That’s also the basis of the rally - not a realization that covid is a nothingburger (it isn’t) and not helicopter money to robin hood investors, but the understanding with the fed’s printer that all these companies would not be allowed to simply go bust after all, despite not being able to survive on their own funds.
The shakyness now comes from the slow realization that corona is going to give us years of problems in the economy, and that since zero elements of the American economy are adapted to a market that doesn’t just climb, climb, climb and have free loans, it might even be the case that the fed is not wealthy enough to save them and let them ride out the troubled waters if the troubled waters will remain for years.
Tl;dr confidence in the strength of American companies was substituted for confidence in the fed’s muscle, but that confidence is waning too once it’s clear that covid will not be over in a long time.

Corona is Trump’s first, big mistake. Everything else he’s been able to handle fine. Notice how the media has gone unusually restrained in their barrage against him. They know he is finally making a mistake and they want to give him all the rope to hang himself with. They are hoping that by almost supporting him in reopening we will have a crushing second wave, and they are right. However, they are hoping it will cost him the election, so Biden can resign and leave the precidency to Mdm Her Turn, but that won’t work (actually it might, but it’s a long shot) but it will be enough to ruin the economy AND the market for more than four years, thereby ruining his legacy.
