You assume retail tards are margin.
You are talking about people who's knowledge of stocks is basically "stocks go up!"
You are talking about people who don't bother to research companies, they just buy what they know or because they heard from a friend that it was a good buy.
You are talking about people who don't know even know what an option is outside of "really risky, never do it, you could lose everything!"
Basically, you are assuming these people are in any way stock market literate.
But they're not. And that's why they're going to utterly crush the bears today, like they've done the last three months.

It's hard to come by because you get it on the back end of the trade, after getting out of it and seeing what happens. It really has to mean getting it right to begin with. There's so many ways to look at it, because it also sucks to sell something then see it immediately go into low earth orbit. The psychology of it is easy to talk about but really hard to translate into practice, at least for me.

This market is fucking dumb. The Fed killed high interest rate savings accounts, do I look into CDs or something? I just earnestly have no idea what's happening in this meme market.

That sudden oil spike! I put some more into SSL today, should have bought some XOM too but it doesn't seem like quite as much of a cheap buy right now. I'll probably end up just shifting a lot of my SSL into it for the dividends next year anyways.
I need to take a few hundred back out sometime before end of month for some expenses, but I'm not sure if it'll be this coming Monday or the next Monday after. One of the two should be big green compared to today but hard to say which.

To be honest, since I sold my GUSH for a nice little profit I haven't felt the urge to buy back in again. As things get stabler it seems to perform worse which isn't what you want from a leveraged ETF. If I were you and you're holding, I'd just set a nice sell limit, maybe 20% over where you bought, let it fill, and get into XOM and SSL while they're still cheap in the meantime.

200+ shares now. Made it down under 9 average. Most of my portfolio in at current valuation. I had nothing to buy it with down at 7.5 because I'm a poorfag who was waiting on a paycheck, but at least I got it at reasonable prices today.
>>19683429
I'm going to say up but not as up as last Monday, peaking 4% higher than today's peak. Newfag investors like me will have learned to partial profit sell any day that spikes as much as last Monday in order to rebuy the dip. I knew it would dip at least Tuesday but I got caught up in the moment thinking maybe I'm wrong, maybe I need to leave it all in and Tuesday will moon even higher and then I'll sell before the dip. I knew better but did it anyways. I didn't expect a long dip so I would have bought Tuesday, but I could have had probably an extra 25 shares of SSL if I'd been smart. It's tough to make good decisions when you're busy at work while making them, that's why I generally don't day trade and want to do long holds. I will profit take at least a bit if this Monday is green though.

Alternatively, set a cash secured put at the value you want to buy the stock at. If you get your stock at your preferred price point, great! If not, then you pocket the premium and can write another to get more premiums.

How to avoid getting eaten by whales during unstable market guide:
1) Identify necessary and well-positioned companies that have the resources to weather the current conditions and will be valued at much more than they currently are after it, whether the problem lasts a month, a quarter, a year, or two years. Subtract, say, 15% from their pre-trouble stock price in case things go poorly for their entire sector and/or the market overall, or the whole sector was overvalued before.
2) Place money you don't need to survive into your brokerage and buy them. Buy them as low as you can but don't be afraid to buy slightly high on the individual day or week if that is when you are around and can buy them.
3) Do not sell them no matter how low they go, and continue to place non-survival money in the market during lows or ahead of time to buy them low.
4) Stop worrying about timing so much, if you FOMO and buy a spike don't freak out and sell, try to at least only buy the beginning of the spike, or else stay out of it.
5) Again, do not sell until the market stabilizes, even if your investment loses half its value. It is much more likely to lose the top half than the bottom half of that value due to market fluctuations, so buy more at half off. This is all contingent on having chosen an actual large and well-funded company with a good structure and long term prospects.
6) If you become fearful, write the money off as lost altogether and go hibernate for a year or two, rather than selling and rebuying some other shiny thing you've looked into less.
7) Sell ONLY after market has been normal and stable for at least one quarter and you've made your profit. If it pays dividends, keep some.
8) Do NOT get clever with gambling and predictions. Do NOT.
9) If you're not as poor as me, do this with five good companies evenly invested instead of 1 or 2

If you follow this simple guide, whales can never ever ever fuck you.
Or you can just buy an ETF when low and hold.

No this was even a retarded bet at the time but I went $40k -> $2.2m on Fidelity and thought it would be fun to yolo more than a million dollars on my Robinhood account.

Turns out yoloing is only fun if you win.

I put $40k into Fidelity and ended up putting something like $100-110k gradually into RH.

Actively traded on RH with all my brainpower, but on Fidelity I just bought and then rolled lower or rolled over SPY puts as they increased in price or came within 1 month of expiration.

All my brainpower and best effort on RH took my account from ~$100k to $1.8m to $200k to $400k.

Buying puts and rolling them out without day trading too much on Fidelity? $40k to $2.8m. Then I got nervous and panicked and day traded it down, I think to around 2.2 or 2.4m. Then I stopped.

I'm a retard when I actively make decisions.
