BULLS WAKING UP FROM BULL NAPS
Edition

Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

why invest in stocks when co-movement in the indexes due to credit troubles might swing your winners about -20% or more? You've got a 10 - 20% upside and a 20% to 50% downside. Grade A is going to swing something like -10% or so tops. You'll get decent yield, and probably still have room for some limited growth due to low rates going till likely 2022. if the FED touches rates at all, I'd be really surprised. If rates go up, everything will shit and grade A bonds will probably shit the least because the issuing companies aren't as likely to need to issue more, nor will they deal with harsh fallen angel issues that BBB will - especially in the rating environment we're in.

The corporate debt bubble is going to pop at some point here. There is money in crypto, but realistically I don't know how bitcoin is going to do when the market crashes.
I know companies like postmates, Uber and Lyft will get absolutely ruined by raised interest rates. Most companies will... very similar to 2008 and the yield curve has been inverted for almost two years, so we are about due. When the actual crash happens, printing money does not work. This market is HOT, this has been a late stage bull market for about 2 1/2 years. It is like when you nut and she keeps sucking, but for way too long.
However, there really isn't a clear sign it is going to pop and we are safe for the summer.

You have it backwards. Calls hedge against uncertainty.
I am glancing at the options chain for DAL, for example. I see that for Jan 2021 expiration, that you can get 33c calls for 7.10. You'd have to look at the greeks but I'll spoonfeed you this once.
That is 1 point above its current price. You would be in the money if it ever moved above 40 by JANUARY, during the holiday season. If it doesn't, its probably a dumpster fire but you are out ~25% of the current price instead of 100% of what you put in.

There's always more debt than fiat. Without credit expansion to match new debt, fiat (money) ceases to exist as it is gradually used to pay down debt (resulting in deflation). If the economy slows, as it does when you lock everyone down, velocity of fiat (money) slows, resulting in money supply contraction, resulting in deflation, resulting in more contraction, resulting in a deflationary spiral, eventually resulting in fiat ceasing to exist. This would be the reality if we had Fed inaction during the kind of deflationary period we just experienced due to covid. Now as the economy heats up, velocity of money resumes, we have monetary expansion, which results in inflation, which Powell will seek to control. Velocity of money effects the money supply much, much more than the Fed printing money. Printing is addition, velocity is an nth power. That's as simple as I can make it.

I fail to see how we have exited the deflationary period into an inflationary one. Like you highlighted, most of the money and revenue we're seeing float around is going back to service debt. I suspect that there's no amount of stimulus that would actually kick us to inflation right now, and I don't think that there's any way for us to keep expanding credit when a lot of the money is just going to buybacks or is being used to refinance debts

We're not in an inflationary one yet, at least not much (although I'm sure we've had some since March deflationary highs for example). As I said, as money velocity increases we see inflation. Inflation is less a factor of how much money there is than it is how quickly the money you do have is circulating. That circulation determines your effective money supply, and as I said is exponential in effect compared to the mere additive effect of creating new fiat. $1000 under a matters has little to no effective impact on inflation, while $1000 that changes hands 3x a day has a very large effective impact.

That's more or less what I'm saying. You can have deflation in a debt based monetary system but not in the current environment. yeah, I'm pretty sure we've picked up a lot in the US relative to March and April. I have a strong feeling that we're reaching a short term peak, second lockdown/slowdown looks imminent based on reports coming out of Texas and CA. If it's not that, it'll be the layoffs and stimulus patchwork ending EO August. I unironically think Trump is right to be pushing for the employee side payroll tax moratorium and an infrastructure bill. It'll have to come with special loans that don't count against state and muni budgets. I haven't seen any better suggestions yet.

People have been taking paycuts through this crisis, that's part of the deflationary shock in the collapse of demand.

Deflation means people save instead of spend. Companies take in less revenue. You think they're going to be doling out raises and promotions? The opposite. They'll be slashing anyone who makes above the bare minimum, and those who want to stick around will agree to pay cuts.

That's been happening. And will likely continue to happen.

if you live on the boat and pay a marina docking fee you're basically freeing yourself from being a rentcuck or mortgage cuck.

Mortgage is a powerful debt vehicle that can be leveraged for other things. A house is one of the few appreciating assets anyone can buy. You walk away from that you are going to have less money but be more mobile. That is the opportunity cost of living in a car, RV, boat, whatever.
