>> No.19537605

Only use 5 - 10% of your overall portfolio for options trading at any one time.

Go for options that you think have an equal chance of tripling your investment or losing it all. So if I buy a SPY option for $200, I'm either expecting a +$600 gain or a -$200 loss (now, of course, I wouldn't actually lose all 200 dollars since I would have sold for a loss long before it actually plummets to zero). Related to this, you should always have a plan. "If this option goes below 60% of my initial investment, I will sell it for a loss." Something like that.

Start with buying options, don't start with selling them. Personally, I'm against selling options altogether.

Yeah on paper you're right, but trying to time the market is ALWAYS harder than you think it will be. Yes, obviously people get lucky and some people even consistently get lucky, but its pretty damn far from a sure thing. Because options are decaying assets, it's not like each option play you make has a 50-50 chance of success either, in most cases the volatility is already priced in so even when you do come out on top, it's less money then you might expect.
I'd encourage you to play around with an option calculator to get a sense of how risky it can be, compared to how the rewarding it potentially is.

Ok I'll play around with it more. I actually messed with this exact calculator a few weeks ago and that was the main reason I decided not to try options. But I keep seeing people say they are doubling their money every two weeks or every month and they'll be millionaires in a few weeks off of a few thousand dollars initial investment. That's not even my goal, I'm not that impatient or ambitious, I just think the market is clearly going upwards this bull run is only just getting started in my opinion. But the options calculator does make the profit seem a lot smaller in reality. And your point about volatility being priced in is well taken...

Hello frens. Before it's too late. SOXL is the answer. Face it. Semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, the list goes on. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, demand requires bigger, faster, cheaper, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: semiconductor.
SOXL couples a single ETF entry point with the the best companies the space has to offer then pushes these already stellar returns to the limit with 3x leverage. With SOXL your economic interests are aligned with hardware powerhouses TSMC, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. Real tech companies with innovative products people want, not """tech""" """companies""" pushing shitty ads. And like all leveraged ETFs, SOXL is rebalanced daily, accelerating gains in an upmarket while deftly mitigating margin risks when down.
In the last 7 years, barring the coronavirus interruption, SOXL has exploded over 55x yet still we are early. Semiconductor growth will proceed exponentially until every viable space is saturated with it. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and compelling outcomes make it so. The injection of increasingly compact and efficient sensors, microcontrollers, information processing and storage into everything and everywhere will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXL holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for more "pullback". The crash was a gift and fretting over the exact bottom is meaningless. Waiting.. is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

One thing I've learned in trading stocks is not to respect anyone else too much. Remember, every time a stock jumps 5% that's a HUGE move in terms of wealth. With every human on the planet, how many do you think saw it coming and took advantage of it? Each time? How many so-called experts? Very, very few. How many saw Covid coming and bailed early? Not as many as you would think. I had my extended family out of the market three weeks before the drop. It was at that point that I realized that the market is actually slow to price things in and most expert traders are just drunks who made connections in a frat house in college. Quants are another deal, they develop an edge with math, I respect them although what they skim is in a different category.

Every 2 weeks I kept buying in, come Monday I’ll have another 600 to invest. It’s just harder to find cheapies some stocks are still 50% off but they kind of crappy.

I have sell orders on all non dividend positions. I plan on holding all my divvies for 30 years unless they hit ATHs then I will sell and rebuy when the price lowers again.

If this market continues to be bullish the less deals I find are going to push me into ETFs stateside and internationally.

>After the Federal Reserve increased the size of its lending program in March, JPMorgan was reportedly able to find new buyers for Carnival debt. The cruise company eventually raised over $6 billion in debt and equity, with the traditional and convertible bonds carrying interest rates of 11.5% and 5.75%, respectively. Earlier this month, Carnival CEO Arnold Donald said the company has enough money to survive a scenario in which it earns no revenue for the rest of this year. Some of the company's brands have canceled cruises until July or August, as all cruise lines face a ban on sailing in US waters that could last until July.
