Based. I'm long 1000 TVIX since ~$150 and going to double it up at these levels. Gonna sit on it as long as VIX is above 25 till the elections in November. Pretty comfy hold at this point as SPX can even reach ATHs and I won't be fucked as direct shorters and the upside potential is enormous.

>I am worried about a long crab market
For VIX to fell below 25 in a long crab market (within 1/2 std dev) it'd take ca. next 2 weeks of consistent printing of green candles. Good luck with that. I'm really happy to sit in the 25-30 zone till November not touching the position.

It's 0.41 x 4 a year. The 0.41 is paid out each quarter. The ex-div date is kinda misleading. Yes it's when you gotta be on the books as the owner of the stock but since all trades take a day to settle first if you buy the stock on the exact ex-div day you forgo the divvy. Now if you buy it a day before ex-div then you'd be getting a divvy on the payout date

With the nuances of the shit that was said on the news, and the escalating language exchanged by the President of the US towards China I elected to purchase TMRC due to articles of concern raised nearly a year ago regarding sourcing REEs domestically. From there, and with the impending animosity I concluded that now was an optimal time to buy in. So far it's up some 80% last I looked. This despite advice garnered from /smg/ being generally negative, suggestions that we'd find other sources.

This shit takes time, and it can be a gamble. Had I bought in when the US government was considering grants to companies for domestic production I could be in for $0.17 and up an order of magnitude higher, but there was no guarantee.

TSM in building a new plant in the US. Foxconn did the same thing years ago, and is more or less defunct last I heard, though I've not kept up on it. TSM does have another older foundry in WA though. Their main fabs are obviously in Taiwan, though, which may lead to some degree of volatility.

AMD on a fundamental level doesn't seem like a good investment at this point in time, and I expect it will be checked to the full extent that it will be allowed to. Moreover certain economic conditions arising from the current crises will likely detract from their semi-custom sales to MSFT and SONY.

I'd say INTC is approximately priced. Upside will be dependent on their performance over the next 2 years, they're not heavily speculated on, but they're also not quite as reliant on CN/TW. Consider their security performance and their diminishing market shares. They're well diversified though.

MU is a good pick, they dabble in many sectors. Memory is necessary in every device. Likewise if you can get exposure to SK Hynix. Kioxia is supposed to be pushing their IPO this fall, slated for Oct., they're spun out of Toshiba. MU and Kioxia are both manufacturing components for 5G alongside their memory production. DDR5 standard will be deployed in short order, this means new memory controllers and will require new motherboards and so on.

NVDA is well diversified and GPUs are critical to many compute projects. Moreover they're integral to many ML modalities. Finally they're heavily invested in automated driving and, while I can't say with any assurity, I suggest they're likely equally well invested in general automation and things like facial recognition. They're a virtual monopoly in most domains. I'd wait to see what INTC's and AMD's deliveries in the discrete consumer markets look like, but a good long in any case.

Seek radio manufacturers for continued 5G deployments, if you're willing to bet on the continued expansion of 5G the world over given the current scenario.

Interesting!
I’m building a position in MU. Like the other anon, I’m curious about China. Do you know if a large part of their customer base is China? I understand much of their competition is also China. Is that a problem because of how strongly the government could force Chinese to buy chinese?

There's been an internal drive for Chinese domestic products, AMD had some sort of engineering consortium with them. Additionally they're bringing memory fabs online. It's difficult to ascertain how rapidly they'll manage to hit the necessary quality for international market demands, and how readily their processes will come to profitable yields. China is definitely pushing for marketable competition in the chip market but I don't know how effective they'll be as the mote is both deep and wide.

Personally I'm averse to direct investment in Chinese equities, as they're very adept at manipulating shells into companies. They've even managed to elude major hedge funds with ponzi schemes which, to me, seems exorbitantly risky for retail investors like you and I. The clearest example is LK, a debacle which precipitated very recently.
