EURN for sure, and still go big divvy. STNG too as well, anything below 20 is good longer term on STNG and below 18 is an absolute amazing bargain. FRO is strong af but because it has been so on fire and performing so awesome lately I don't know whether to recommend to buy or wait for a dip, it's momentum can be interpreted in both ways.

I'm in all three, here are my thoughts:

EURN is the best bet if you have any sort of interest beyond the immediate term (which you should consider). Excellent market position and competently run. FRO is another good option from a value perspective and has a lot of positive interest at the moment which will bump the price if you're thinking more short term. INSW, well, is an odd one - they are soundly run but overly conservative in their approach (for example they're paying $0.06 divvies on $20 shares during an immensely successful quarter), but they don't seem to attract the same kind of interest others do.

Shop around, there are other decent buys in the tanker market too - although you've picked two of the more promising ones already.

Hell hour is hour, and I am still profiting. This is nice.

I was down 26% overall as I mentioned, fully recovered and only a bit down, creeping to a bit up back and forth....all DHT to blame, but the fact that I am back to where I was despite sizable DHT holdings says a lot.

Everyone here is in it for the longer run, though miss oilanon. I would like to see him again even if Brandon was a cost to have him back. My positions are the same, but with DHT. DHT, FRO, EURN, and STNG. 500/200/500/200 shares respectively. Hence...DHT is my anchor, kek.

>>19455956
Very hefty divvy. Very happy profit run. I will gladly let it keep making me money today and tomorrow, the divvy is Wednesday. Might stay up after that due to divvy holders, or go up more. If people buy for divvy, they tend to hold for more than 1 quarter which is a good thing. Bit of small sell off possibly after divvy subtraction, then all good. I am not worried in the slightest about FRO.

For conservative divvie approach, eurn and fro are good. I'm a fan of nna too, but they have risen in price, but consistent divvie. DHT is also low atm.
For capital gains approach, stng is cheap atm, and I have tk and tnp but tnk is also recommended from what I have seen.
I believe in more if a basket approach but if you are picking just small groups I would say Eurn/fro for conservative and stng for spikes.

If you decide to go /tankers/ then go with the other suggestions, i'd recommend you do a little digging before you do just to make sure you fully understand the ways tankers make their money/what negatively impacts them/how shipping cycles work at a basic level. I get what you mean but FOMO is not your friend, kind anon. You want to do your best to stamp those thoughts into the ground. Your fear would be realised if we were hitting a V-shape recovery globally, but that isn't happening - you'll have plenty of time to do your due diligence and pick stocks while we splutter and stop/start our way back to where we were at the end of last year on a consistent basis.

Some anon came across this thesis a while back, a lot of it isn't relevant to ourselves but there's some very good explanations of core concepts/historical context that are probably useful in your position. If you have a spare half hour i'd recommend skimming the relevant parts. https://globalmaritimehub.com/wp-content/uploads/attach_427.pdf

I picked up a bunch more FRO recently and was thinking about selling it after divvy so I can swing trade again (most of my money is tied up in it now), but now am seriously thinking of holding for future divvies as I'd be making about $100 a month just on just FRO. Regardless of what footwear, if any, crew has on, it's going to get sullied over time. Even deckhands sitting indoors are going to eventually end up with dirty socks and feet.

Really, unless you want to use fresh water from tanks to do laundry, the best that could be done is manually inspecting each crew members' feet and socks on the regular. Preferably with a comprehensive visual, tactile, smell, and taste test. If cleaning is necessary, you have to make that choice between using freshwater, or having the necessary staffing for a manual clean up.

Freshwater is a precious commodity on a ship out at sea where one could die of dehydration. Using freshwater to wash away the accumulated dirt is out of the question, really, the only option available is to sample all feet and footwear on the daily across a regimented cyclical schedule flowing throughout the day so every crewmember can be examined thoroughly. You have to go down low and your knees will hurt, and every foot and sock is going to end up memorized, but the focus and dedication will be rewarding as any touch, sniff, or taste will tell you along with the mere sight what needs upkeep and cleaning. Manual staffing is the way to go, even if you have to take every shift yourself in order to display this absolutely necessary feature for your crew and ship. The use of freshwater is only acceptable to ensure you produce enough manual liquid from your mouth to wash things sufficiently.

thats what everyone is wondering.

my NAT is down 10% and my DHT is down 16%. but i only had 500$ total into those companies. FRO remains my largest position in the tanker market. over 1000$ in FRO

I sold my OSG for a very slight profit after being down something like 18% for a couple of weeks. Will probably do the same with NAT and DHT and consolidate my positions to just 1or 2 tankers

EURN is also down for me but i bought at the top like a moron. EURN needs to get back to 11.80 for me to break even. Only like 300$ in EURN though

believe it or not my best stock for the past month has been Facebook.

Personally holding my DHT. If it stays between 5.5 and 6.5, I'll think about swinging if EURN goes under 9-ish or FRO gets under 8 ish.

With every great boon comes a great cost. It shall be met and depending on conditions of my current capability dealt with immediately or if in need of a timely break swiftly dealt at soonest convenience despite the new accumulations.

>NAT
How unfortunate. But glad you got EURN and FRO, EURN can break out at any moment and FRO is strong af right now. DHT....who knows, it is a strong company and the stock is lagging. I hate Facebook more than the military industrial complex and won't be caught dead with my money in them.

do you think that a broad market swing will threaten your unrealized gains? I'm considering easing on the DCA for a month.

Is lpg the best tanker stock? A month ago I almost entered into this shit show but thankfully I bought only the refineries instead (PSX vlo MPC).

However this LPG (Dorian) keeps popping up on all my screeners.

Is this a good stock? I almost feel compelled to buy. Any opinion is greatly appreciated

I looked into it as well. It's a different type of tanker company from the ones we usually talk about in this thread. Dorian LPG specializes in the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas and nothing else. The tanker craze was fueled by the crude oil glut. That's why Dorian LPG was left out, it's not a crude tanker company. I have no idea what the state of the liquefied petroleum gas market is, as I only know about the crude side of tankers, and a bit about the product side. So short-term, I have no idea what factors will affect this stock, I don't even know the going spot rate for a VLGC. That being said, the reason crude and product tankers look good in the future is because they seem to be approaching a supercycle, due to the global fleet situation. Dorian LPG seems to have a very young fleet w/ a lot of the current environmental restrictions meet. So if the Very large gas carrier (VLGC) market gets caught up in the tanker supercycle, this company may be a good long-term hold. Though, that young fleet probably means they have a large amount of debt. I have this stock earmarked for further research, but haven't gotten into it. If you want to buy I'd recommend doing very in-depth research. The shipping market is volatile as hell, so you'll want to know what you bought. I advise extreme caution when investing in tankers, they're not for the slight of heart. Here's their website:

Thanks. I always try to learn the business before investing and I like reading articles and analysts opinions too. I don't know that much either about this but it pops up in a lot of my screeners. At first I ignored because of the line of business but then I got intrigued

Thank you though

Petro is currently good to get into, at least I think. With overall traffic staying down (both jet and public) it means we are holding an oversupply of petroleum. At least from what I've read. Major petro companies include lpg and stng. Worth investing, especially if you are trying to capture the whole tanker market (crude, natural, petro, chemical, off shore)
