Nah, they are American. Yum China is a separate entity. Yum has a strong portfolio of fast food brands (KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell do very well) and their recent Habit Burger acquisition will probably do well. They also have very good financials.

Does anyone buy at least 1 stock of a company they use? Seems weird but makes sense to me. I'm already investing my life into the company so I may as well invest money too. This way I'm also getting "paid" by the company to keep using them on top of the services/products they provide me.

I think the only one I haven't bought a share of is GOOGL because that's way too much but I plan to eventually. Bought Amazon for like ~$530 in 2016 instead of Google which was like ~$200 more. Obviously made the right call by a long shot.

Lot of speculation that minimum wage increases would lead to companies just using more self-checkout bots for retail/automated cooks for fast food as well. see, I'm following that scenario too but just have little faith that there is anything market ready (affordable) that has not already been implemented to a great extent.
The second a corp can shave a penny off by automating they will do so (doing cost benefit analysis of investing in automation and having it come back as a green light).
I'm too hesitant to bet that chink flu is going to accelerate this industry by a substantial amount due to how R&D intensive and costly it is to bring a lot of this properly into mainstream market. I know a lot is on the horizon but not sure how close and if the latest plague will have power to push it to market.

yeah i get those for about $16/lb. One other thing to also consider is that if the recession is prolonged, as many expect it to be, companies will be facing extended periods of revenue declines, meaning capex is also going to take a hit. With decreases in capex, it makes sense to leverage regions in which infrastructure development was already taking place. I don't think anyone would disagree that Chinese business (mal)practices leave a bad taste in the mouth, and recent investment in SEA (prior to CV) was one answer to decoupling from Chinese prominence in global supply chains (and to avoid their rising labor costs). This might be a near-term boost to that, at least until we see healthy revenue growth again, at which point companies could then re-evaluate whether it makes sense to onshore what they can.

yeah, with latest Yuan deval the Chinks were really signalling that they are feeling like they are morphing into a more mature service oriented economy like US (will take decades etc as always but signaling is enough to trigger need for change). In short run, all they're saying is that they think they can't grow a lot more than they already have and the country can't be milked for cheap labor as much as it was historically.
Pivot to SEA/India is natural shift in coming years and the current US administration will accelerate with their stance.

CV is just a nice excuse to do what everyone was doing and accelerate/decelerate with convenient excuse as strategically needed
