We're about $.039 off from pre-covid19 levels.
I'm wondering if with or without covid-19 silver was going to rise above $20 this year no matter what.

Someone told me that after 9/11 silver was up to $30.00.

I got one of those Starter Kits a few months back, and for the time it was a good price. Right now given that prices are the way they are it's an 'ok' deal. On one hand, you get an ASE and a Maple Leaf for a few bucks below what you're gonna find them for right now, as well as 1/10th silver which usually comes at a higher premium, on the other hand it's definitely not the best deal out there for dollar/oz. Overall I'd say it's a nice starter kit and if you're starting out I'd say sure, go for it.

Sounds like fearmongering. One of the big reasons PMs are gaining traction is because every government is just pumping money into the system. I'm a $15/hr wageslave and Ive got 75oz silver + .5oz gold + 1oz plat. Prices have jumped a lot in the last few days, who knows if they will climb higher or stay the same or drop. A lot of people want to get back to work. A lot of people fear a second wave of Corona if we open everything back up. There are too many unknowns to guarantee you what the best play is. I will say that in terms of fiat profits physical metals are not going to make you rich. They are a good store value so if you've got cash sitting in an account doing literally nothing and you want an extremely low risk option - buy PMs. You will not get rich overnight but you won't become poor overnight either.

It is expected that if we are in a precious metals bull market, the percentage gains in silver will be higher than the percentage gains in gold. This is due to the quantity of gold versus the quantity of silver which historically has fell into a certain range of 15x to 50x. The current gold to silver ratio is about 100. Based on that, silver should at least go up twice as much as gold, at a minimum, in a bull market. In a bear market for precious metals, perhaps silver will decline half as much as gold. Of course, that analysis must be reconciled with the fact that silver is more an industrial metal than a monetary metal while gold is more a monetary metal than an industrial metal.

More volitility makes it much easier to short, lower price makes it a divedend and/or entry point into the PM market for newer investors to the scene, and most notably, it's the only major 'other' PM outside of Gold meaning it has intrisic usage as diversification. An ideal PM portfolio is 100% Gold to begin with, then at ~10k splits to 70:30 - 80:20 (60:40 - 90:10 s extremes) in Gold/Silver value from there on out, with other metals (Plat, Pall etc) cutting into the Silver share if you go for them.
Add to that the chumps holding onto it, praying for the Silver Bull Run in the mythical timeline where JPM loses control over Silver market supression, and it corrects to ~$300-400 in relative value to Gold.

I have a very high tolerance for money. :) But when you have an out of control central bank purposely blowing an already enormous bubble even bigger, it's very difficult to feel like you've made it unless you've got enough money to not be forced to play the Fed's bullshit games. Consider that there are a lot of assets that could get destroyed:

1. Stocks. With companies having borrowed tremendous amounts of money to buy back their own stock, any sort of interest rate normalization could cause these companies to become bankrupt as they can no longer roll over debt at low interest rates. What happens then is that equity gets wiped out. For stronger companies that aren't in that boat, they're grossly overpriced and you could be looking at a deep crash.

2. Bonds. Take a look at how crappy the bonds are and how little interest they yield. Over a long period of time, if these bonds don't default, you're practically guaranteed to get killed by inflation. Shorter term, I feel that the ratings agencies are overrating these bonds and any sort of downgrade on this near-junk trash could cause institutional investors to dump as some funds are not allowed to hold bonds below a certain grade.

3. Housing. Middle class housing is held up by bubble policies of the Fed managing the Treasury yield curve and buying hundreds of billions of dollars of mortgages. Without this backdrop, mortgage rates rise and housing prices crash.

What does it mean for me to make it? Making it to me means that I can get badly burned on stocks, badly burned on bonds, and badly burned on my house dropping tremendously in price (but not so much that hooligans move into the neighborhood) and yet I'm still rich enough to live comfortably for the rest of my life even as the government workers seek to save their sorry asses by taxing the hell out of my house.

Generally doesn't matter with ASE/non-ASE, ASE's are just usually more easy to throw around since they're generally what people expect when it comes to Silver, Think of them like the Vanilla ice cream of the PM world - gettong other flavours might be better for you and can vary on availability; but Vanilla will always be there as the 'default'. I've found the Auzzie 2oz's (Crocs, Koalas and Kookaburras) are usually the best value if you just want spot, but I don't know what prices are like over in burgerland.
With that split though, unless you're really intending to go for the high short for the (first) Coronacrash to build bank for your long term PM gold hold, I'd advise to go for a more Gold-heavy portfolio

tl;dr Gold for the Hold, Silver for the Short

Tell them that they screwed up but that you're not paying shipping to send it back to them. If they send you a postage paid box to return it then I guess send it back, but if they are to lazy to bother with that then it's yours morally and legally.

There have been multiple times companies on amazon have sent me the wrong thing and when I tell them about it they send me the right thing and tell me to keep the wrong thing as well because they dont want to pay for return shipping so I get free stuff. Those are really long waits and for the anon still waiting, I hope your order arrives soon.

To others reading this thread, be very careful of dealers that take over a month to deliver, especially if prices have gone up quite a bit since ordering. It could mean that the dealer promised a price for bullion it did not have and now buy up in the open market to deliver. I'm not suggesting the Scottsdale Mint is doing such things but you might want to read up on the sad stories of Hannes Tulving and the Northwest Territorial Mint, two dealerships that caused their customers to lose a lot of money.

The official answer is that if you sell bitcoins directly for gold, you pay capital gains tax on the bitcoin and then the gold's cost basis is whatever price you got it for in USD equivalent. The real answer is that IRS niggas won't know as long as the bullion dealer doesn't report to them (they won't below a certain amount) and the price difference between bank transfer and bitcoin is small compared to tax savings.

>Why put your life savings into shiny rocks?
Very few go that far, and very few are recommending you do so. I'd say only put money into it if you have an excess you don't see yourself spending any time soon, and continue to do so with comfortable increments.
>The hope they moon
While that is always a possibility, it's uncommon. They hope, which has been proven through, is that they retain and grow their value to combat the inflation of whatever fiat currency your country has. Would you rather $500 sit still and lose its buying power or sit as something that passively and safely grows until you need to use it?
>Can you physically buy things with them
That's a mixed response. I'm sure some people out there would be happy to accept PMs as payment for things, though of course your local grocery store wouldn't accept ounces of silver or grams of gold. However selling them to coin shops, online dealers, or individuals isn't so hard that it's not worth it.
>What if it crashes?
The same can be said of any fiat currency, however Gold and Silver have been standards for currency for thousands of years, and was even a standard of US Currency until only a little over half a century ago. There's simply much, much more history to back the buying power of PMs than there is any fiat currency.
>Should I buy some?
If you're financially comfortable and can afford to, sure. Don't dump your life's savings into it or something stupid, but drop a little here and there, as much as you feel comfortable with.

One thing to add about the reliability of it is this: Gold and silver are physically in existence. They have a finite limit. Even if we haven't taken every single bit of it out of the Earth, the same amount has been here Roman times and before. No one can change that. No one can make more gold and silver, they can only find more. You can print trillions of any fiat currency whenever you want. Is it something you get incredibly rich by putting money into? Of course not, and no one is advertising it like that.

When you own PMs, you own a set portion of a finite commodity, however big or small it is. You physically own it and short of being robbed it cannot be taken from you. This doesn't mean don't invest elsewhere. Go pour money into crypto, stonks, bonds, property, mining stonks, whatever the fuck else you want. But know that PMs are a low risk, guaranteed reward (although the guarantee is only low) endeavor.
