If nothing really happens today and all the tanker plays really do expire worthless, it'll be a lesson learned situation.

Never expect to make money when jews start jumping into your investments. They'd rather crush some random retailer than have him make like 1k in profit. Yeah, could have been. If the STNG target is @50-80, then this D-Day would only swing it to maybe $30-40. Sorry you invested and intended on it. STNG is one of a few that I would expect such a violent swing. All the others would get like 10-30% or so in that possibility imo. I think that the Q3 to Q2 next year situation was the smarter and more likely one. Since we're in clown market, shit can swing wherever it wants. for a physical contract with this much open interest, when it's priced similarly to following month contracts that should have significantly higher prices, and there's 0 liquidity, you can not predict anything. Everything remains on the table.

It's been shilled for like three weeks here. Everyone was saying June it would pay out and to get in before the dividend date, because the stock was going to outperform dividend losses.
The reasoning was there on the fundamental balance sheet, but I didn't buy in because I thought the yield was way too high and made the stock kind of trashy.

Now really, if you are still following the thesis, you should be comfortable with this drop if you bought priori to dividend date on assurance that the oil glut will continue.

Don't over-consume day-to-day information. Frequenting this thread is generally not a great idea if you don't have diamond hands, most of it is noise. If you've done your diligence and make a play, stick to it. If you're wrong, you're wrong, it doesn't really matter so long as you're right more often than not. Chances are you'll be fine if emotion doesn't shake you up.

And do I think shit will hit the fan? Yeah, I do. Kids aren't back in school. That's all I need to know to say with confidence that persons projecting oil demand recovery in the short term are completely full of shit.

But even if prices don't shit the bed today, I'm still backing my tanker play on the fundamentals, it's just going to be a much longer timeline to see a good return (this is also why I said a while ago to avoid DHT/FRO because they will under-perform compared to their peers unless you're a contango gambler, which it looks like is turning out to be true). Those that have already time chartered will sit it and make some cash, the older fleet will get scrapped reducing tanker supplies, no new tankers are being produced, new fuels will require extra components to be shipped to refineries, and if Trump goes apeshit on China again we'll be in another boom. An apocalypse would be nice, but isn't necessary at all.

I work out of Long Beach CA. Like I said before, all I need to do is look out of the window to see through the BS.

I think part of last month's negative oil was a result of analysts pricing in the rate at which storage was filling, and that was the major cause of the fire sale (and USO & UCO). I think that it wouldn't be nearly as bad this time since quants have adjusted the numbers and we aren't hitting tank tops as quickly as expected.

Granted, oil backwardation is retarded. If futures doesn't drop soon, then I think there is some backroom deal for an exchange of oil contracts.

Charts that utilize a periodicity of "Daily" will show a different quantity of Volume when compared to charts that utilize an intraday periodicty like 1 minute or 1 Day*. This is caused by the fact that certain types of trades, such as block trades, spread trades and market trades, are considered by the exchange when reporting the cumulative daily volume for a specific symbol or contract. However, those trades are not represented in the tick or 1-minute intraday data for the symbol. These trades together make up the difference observed between the daily volume and the sum of the intraday volume.

So I'm going to put this here and all of you can help me deconstruct what will happen when we have 10 million barrels being stored in Cushing.

>"Delivery shall be made free-on-board ("F.O.B.") at any pipeline or storage facility in Cushing, Oklahoma with pipeline access to Enterprise, Cushing storage or Enbridge, Cushing storage. Delivery shall be made in accordance with all applicable Federal executive orders and all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

>At buyer's option, delivery shall be made by any of the following methods: (1) by interfacility transfer ("pumpover") into a designated pipeline or storage facility with access to seller's incoming pipeline or storage facility; (2) by in-line (or in-system) transfer, or book-out of title to the buyer; or (3) if the seller agrees to such transfer and if the facility used by the seller allows for such transfer, without physical movement of product, by in-tank transfer of title to the buyer.
DELIVERY PERIOD (A) Delivery shall take place no earlier than the first calendar day of the delivery month and no later than the last calendar day of the delivery month.

>(B) It is the short's obligation to ensure that its crude oil receipts, including each specific foreign crude oil stream, if applicable, are available to begin flowing ratably in Cushing, Oklahoma by the first day of the delivery month, in accord with generally accepted pipeline scheduling practices.

>(C) Transfer of title-The seller shall give the buyer pipeline ticket, any other quantitative certificates and all appropriate documents upon receipt of payment.

>The seller shall provide preliminary confirmation of title transfer at the time of delivery by telex or other appropriate form of documentation."

I'm betting that everyone who is bought into the front month is rolling over by selling July/August contracts to offset their position. I mean this is pretty retarded because they've artificially created 10 million barrels worth of physical delivery just to break even. Any other thoughts?
