Neat, I just lucked out and jumped into MTG collecting in March and bought 5 Mystery booster boxes.

Only opened one and had a LOT of high value cards including Mana Crypt. I feel like I've maxed out my luck and don't want to continue collecting. So when should I sell for maximum value? I'm in no hurry and could hold for 50 years.

Thanks

i sold off some of my valuable cards a few years ago so i could put the money in stocks. magic is fun but i have nobody to play with these days and cant justify sitting on the money when they could easily drop to pennies any day. in fact some of the cards that used to be valuable were worth jack shit by the time i went to sell. because they print new cards like 4 times a year these days so if a newer card does something better it kills the value of the old ones

i cant even keep track of all the new symbols and sets, i guess im oldschool but i hate all the new foil shit, it makes it look so cheap and juvenile

i like the old card styles when they used english instead of pictures and stuck to DnD style artwork on a matte finish. i stopped buying after 5th edition, thats when the look really started going downhill

Is the complexity of Classic Sixth Edition too much for you to make sense of?
Very based Djinn tho and I absolutely agree with you on the artwork. Nothing like some of the classic bangers.

In 2010 I traded $400 worth of Oxy for 3 large boxes of Magic cards from a junkie who stole them from his brother who was stationed in Iraq. I didn't know anything about them but I was told they were worth alot. I stored them at my Grandma's house and found them again in 2013. The boxes were full of Alpha, Beta and Arabian nights MTG cards there were even unopened packs of the beta sets. I looked up the prices of about 200 of the cards and they ranged from $3 to $600 each and the packs were about $100 each. I sold the entire lot for $10,000 cash to some guy who drove about 1500 miles to buy them all. I could've sold them individually for a lot more but I was a junkie and $10,000 was an unreal amount of money to me. If I would've been smart I could've had them graded and made $25,000 -$100,000 but that $10,000 bought me 5oz of heroin and cash in my pocket for a few months.
