"Stocks go up"

Options aren’t for retail investors, and they’re definitely not for beginners. Big money uses them for hedging and more complicated plays.

There’s no reason to put that much money on options, they’re gambles. Fun every now and then to play with, and you can make big money. But you can also lose everything you put in there and be left with nothing.

When you buy shares of a good company and they lose value, you’re still holding shares of a good company. Buy good shit when it goes on sale.

Yes, do that. And diversify your investments.
In 20 years MSFT, AMZN, BRK and NVDA will be worth 5 to 10 times of what they are now. And the one investment in JPMorgan, INTC or F may have blown up in your face and you get a loss of 50%.

If you diversify and bet on the stocks going up you cant lose. Its been the case for the last 100 years at least.

I've followed RTX anon and due to my own desire to own an undervalued defense stock.

So far biting me in the ass. 40 shares at 60 avg down 70 bucks from my 2k in that stock.

Also followed Oilanon. He seemed to be partially right and wrong sold some of my oil positions for a light profit expecting it to re-crash by now and tried buying back in and got burnt.

Sitting on 1.5k in cash and only my RTX shares and a natural gas play recommend by a friend. It seems to be doing fine but am scared.

Normal people can write options. Say you have 100 shares of a stock at $100 and you are thinking to yourself, man if this thing hits 110 I am definitely going to sell it. You can write a call option at 110, if the stock goes up and the person who bought your call exercises it, you have sold your shares at 110 like you wanted to. If it doesn’t hit 110 and the call expires worthless you still get to collect the premium that was factored into your original option sell.

Ive driven in enough LPG cars in exchange for cigarettes to know that, m8

Its just that hydrogen in cars is way more complicated and logistics extensive apparently. With electric cars you can just connect it to the power network or have fast charge stations with small investments.
Hydrogen needs delivery, expensive tech, etc.

Hydrogen makes sense in bigger vehicles like planes or maybe ships (I dont know) but for cars electric is the future.

A hydrogen car is also easily 2/3 times the price of an electric car because of these reasons.

Well, I could have made a lot of money on both UAVS and MVIS if I'd actually sold when I was at a profit. Instead I held too long, got greedy, and in the case of UAVS, took a huge loss. So, my conclusion is that /biz/ is great for finding meme stocks to play around with, but you need to be wise and disciplined about it. Cut your losses early, take profits, don't become a bagholder.

I've honestly seen a pattern here. Stock gets mentioned a few times early, smart money goes in, then it moons, then the desperate money follows, smart money sells off as they see that happening, stock plummets, bagholders are left seething. Following the MVIS and UAVS madness over the last few days you can clearly see a pattern just over the course of the /biz/ threads. Once a meme stock has its own general, it's time to pull out.

Yes, but solid dielectrics (what you're referring to as glass) are in the R&D stage. The promise is there, due to their available surface area and their methods of fabrication being common-place in the semiconductor industry. They also avoid some of the hazardous pitfalls of Li-based batteries, but it's quite far-looking technology. There are a few universities in Japan that are working on Na-based batteries that are more likely to hit markets before the glass-based (solid dielectric) technology does.

buying stocks is for Boomers. Big Swangin' Dick Chads buy options

your $200 stock goes up 20%, whoa cool you make $40. But if you are Big PP and put that $200 into an option on a $20 stock and that stock moves up 20%, you just made $400

kicker is if you buy a stock and it goes down, you'll at least have whatever remains of the stock but if you fuck up an option, that money is GONE, bye bye

but we don't care about 100% losses, we're freaks

It means the outstanding earnings so far are just the tip of the iceberg and the real corona-induced earnings (e.g. 66% spot rate at 110k+ USD average) will come out in the Q3 reports and after. DHT and STNG completely destroyed earning records and that's off of ancient deals, while they both confirmed ridiculous higher numbers. Numbers which aren't even as high as they really are because they discount the values reported to account for asshole tradeniggers who get a deal and then bail without paying when e.g. they fail to get the oil at the price they wanted, when spot rate goes down, or whatever. Now, given that oil went negative, there was no reason for traders to bail, so guidance is greatly underestimating actual Q2, Q3 and Q4 results. Combined with all the other insane reported metrics and the institutional ownership ratio as well as option volume, they're as close to a sure thing as you're going to get this year (next year the sure thing becomes oil).
