about $100 a day currently, with a cryptocoin trading bot, extracting a pittance from people who trade on "gut feeling"

I wanna do this :/ prob will lose my job soon because socially incompetent. Are you arbitrage trading or momentum trading or something?

Arbitrage.

The bot is written in Python. While it's great for prototyping, I wouldn't do it again. Dynamic typing is terrible when you have code paths that depend on external data and are only called rarely. Rewriting it in Scala soon. Finally a reason to practice Scala.

What kind of arbitrage? Aribtrage on price difference between exchanges?

>> No.1891274

Yes
It's very limited in scale and probably won't work forever. Picture a hot dog stand making $100 a day. I won't make $1000 with 10 hot dog stands the same place.
The effective hourly wage is probably also pretty bad, considering research & development. Fun, though, and keeps your programming skills fresh

do you have a degree? you sound smart

Dropped out of computer science; don't know much about economics. I can't disclose specifics because the market is tiny. It is my impression that small markets offer greater chances for amateur traders. There aren't 50000 brilliant mathematics PhDs analyzing them, unlike real stock markets.

Yeah, i noticed the slight mispricing between exchanges as well. But figured it would take me too long to make a program and was prob just missing something. And people prob had already written programs to remove the arbitrage. Pretty cool that u did it

That's pretty cool. I know that feeling of things not scaling up. I THINK I found a way to make money trading as well, but looking at the market conditions, I don't think it can scale up, but it is easy and requires minimal effort and worry. Hopefully it'll be able to cover my rent and food.

Good on you man.
