Tankers profit from the oil glut right now. Hopium keeps the shit alive because people think the economy will start and we consume oil. We won't and even if we will we have a large surplus of oil that needs to be stored in... tankers. These get absurdly high rates right now (although it still swings a lot) on the spot market. This month (tomorrow DHT) are posting earnings. They will do very very good and will continue to do so. High divvy and of course a lot of press attention (because everything else is doing shit). Normie attention etc. will make retail and maybe institutions rally for it. You can see this during last recession when the stock price of DHT was 200 dollar. I am not saying it will reach that high but it sure as hell will go up. However, it might take a while and even the earnings might not do it. Then there is the end of the month where the contracts for futures end and then the reality will sink in or sure.

i'm doubtful the banks are actually doing anything other than deleveraging or mitigating risk. The economic stimulus of this liquidity is going to amount to corps not going bankrupt and fucking shareholders. That's it. This drop will be long and sustained because there has been no growth for a few years now. we're not likely to pump up again for at least 1 year, and that's really optimistic. Alright faggot I get it. I love all of you anon. Let me lay it out for you why I think tankers can moon to the heavens. This is theoretical and half baked

> Tankers start to report awesome Q1 earnings and go up a little.
> Saudi tankers come in. Oh noes, the tanks are also full! coincidence.jpg
> WTI June crashes to $-50, free oil memes and bankrupt shale abounds
> Energy sector dragdown kicks off overdue round of correction selling in markets
> Bad news, unemployment, unhappy people, "lockdown ended, my job is gone!". Crying hungry babies on CNN from Detroit.
> Jerome money printer go brrr, reactionary US admin has energy sector bailout + $2000 stimulus checks for 6 months.
> 2nd wave of shorter lockdowns because 2nd wave of virus outbreak hits and destroys demand AGAIN.
> Cramer moos on TV about tankers and CNBC dedicates entire days explaining oil to normies
> Tankers seen as safe energy sector play and TNP moons to $50 by July
I'm half joking writing that, but none of those things are impossible, and that's... something.

>Price targets
Hard to say, we live in clown world after all. 2x is likely conservative, My "gut feeling" says wait it out and we'll see 4-10x in market segment. I'm assuming very irrational markets, and crypto like FOMO by the retail crowd if the segment takes off. Your job as a trader is to take profit in the markets, and even if you miss the top, any green is good green. I would personally try to exit around July-August, and Q2 earnings but depending on world conditions this could continue into Q3. I know options premiums are getting expensive in tankers now, but even if you hold the fundamental you could make profit.

We are going to see some volatility in tankers the coming weeks as good and bad news happens. The fact is that there is no where to put the oil and that will remain the case. Oil will also stay volatile meaning that tankers can make a large profit by trading oil. The world doesn't need to go to shit for tankers to prosper.

Again, I don't think they will hit the 100's or 200's like last time because evidently the glut will end at some point and tanker rates will drop. That is why it is not a long term hold but a crisis play.

I have no reply to that really.
The economy is in for a rough time. Some companies will fail and I think the only things worth sticking too are companies relying on technology or the internet for profits. Like FB or MSFT. Or companies with big coffers ready to buy up others. Prime example being BRK.

We will not see a pump for a long time. But I am happy with the crab. I write options, get money and write more options with that. Im happy with the eternal side step and trust in the gouvernment to prevent any further dump out of political consideration.

I also think a main driving factor is the belief that bigger companies will be fine mid-term. We already reopen stuff and slowly return to a semi-normal work environment.

>>millions of employees enjoyed weeks of holidays and are recharged
That has precisely 0 effect on anything. Companies won't magically stop punishing high-achievers and rewarding laziness. If anything it will make people even lazier at work as they realize how fucked up their normal life conditions are.
>>when you look past the immense tragedy (RIP) a lot of pension problems have been solved
Wrong again, not even a minuscule fraction of the required proportion of boomers died. Instead, pension funds are worse off than they've ever been, sometimes being as little as 30% funded. Meanwhile boomers who are surviving mostly want to retire because they're getting scared by this shit, further increasing the strain on the system.
