Now what I predict with this is that you'll spend even more time on the internet browsing shit... so you'll need to use apps that block websites during a certain time period and get down on focusing on shit.

Force yourself to do some math or take a community college course or two to have external pressure. Relearned a bunch of math. Over 500 hours the last two years on math and 110 hours of Trig this year alone.

For example I wanted to make the local mapping function like in a Pip-Boy of the Fallout games. I tried for a long time with a Raspberry Pi and gave up in total frustration. Six years later I tried again with an Arduino and it worked so easily that it made me mad I used a Pi in the first place.

Funny thing is that I was in all honors English classes throughout high school. In third grade, I was reading, comprehending, and writing equivalent of a twelfth grader. Read through 300+ page books when classmates were trying to middle through "Hooked on Phonics".

Pretty sure years of Channing it up helped to demolish my grammar.

Slowed down reading once I hit high school and then let it drain out over time. It's been 15 years since graduating hai skool. Slowly picking up reading again, but I've learned that if you don't use it, you definitely lose it.

One thing I have remaining is spelling and understanding not used in normal conversation words, so friends, coworkers and acquaintances have asked me, "how do you spell x?" and "what does y mean?".

Gaming CAN be a good hobby but only if it's a means for you to be social, make friends, or have something to do with them sometimes.

This. Not every game is created equal in terms of its ability to help improve a lot of the characteristics that people typically associate with intelligence. Most games though, even ones without a meaningful benefit on your cognition, could be used for totally detached relaxation which is fundamental for peak performance. Most people don't use or even think of them that way, but if you have a really stressful and demanding occupation, video games are a great way of "turning it off" sometimes.

When you don't need to totally relax, but you don't have any better opportunities present (like if business is slow) you can play games that are a little less relaxing, but also more efficient at keeping your cognition sharp. Again though, most people aren't really using games as a useful tool. Instead they're treating them as a "risk free" way of feeling meaningful/achieving things because our economy is such a clusterfuck.

I quit about 6 months ago and realized that ecommerce/online marketing is basically just a video game that most people suck at and is really really easy to be mediocre at and still get results/be profitable. Im working a trade during the day because I make like $40/hr+ without any living expenses most of the time (Im flown back and forth to remote jobsites). The + is because some jobs have contracts where I get an extra $4/hour, or 13% lump sum bonus, stipend, etc.

I've been dabbling in lots of stuff including private labeling and dropshipping (dropshipping is pretty shit, but pretty easy to make some starting capital to break into actually making your own brand, which is way more scaleable and more profitable at scale). Dropshipping/private labeling are also really good for building an email list that you can use to shill more stuff. Breaking even or losing a little bit of money doesn't matter very much once you realize you have that customer on your mailing list forever (and not only is email free, the conversion rates are way higher than traditional advertising). I also set up what is going to be an ad revenue/affiliate marketing site that's focused on organic SEO growth early on rather than paid traffic (going fairly well actually, Im ranking above sites like forbes and sports illustrated, getting snippets, etc for some of my articles).

I told myself I would quit my job when I was making more from my side businesses than my real job, but honestly working my day job just feels like a waste of time and like I'm losing out on potential money, but going from $120k/yr to like $45k/yr (roughly what I'd be making if I quit my job and stayed at the same level) feels really risky

For sure, the ad pixels and mailing lists are easily the most valuable parts of almost any online business. All the other stuff can be copied/ripped off pretty easily (literally anyone could start selling my product, and DMCA takedown requests arent instant), but even if someone copies my store exactly, but they can't copy my ad pixel research without dumping a ton of money into adspend. The way fb/google/etc work is that they start off giving you broad generalized traffic, then slowly optimize it according to the user's behaviours/interests/demographics, to (in theory) give you better and better traffic that's already proven to resonate well with your ad creatives and store/sales funnel.
