Ahh yes, the nationalist fist pump. Supply chains will simply not uproot themselves unless you mandate it by law (and no, tariffs don't do that) and even then it'd be very hard to prevent workarounds. There is also the huge discrepancy in debt leverage options that China has over the West. It isn't just the debt that the West owes to China but the debt that most of the developing world now owes to China as well. You could try to dismiss the debt as a Western country but they would just immediately pull on OPEC to remove petrodollar or petroeuro.
I think China is a piece of shit in a lot of ways but you can grumble all you want. Until we deal with the debt problem we will have dulled all the tools we could possibly leverage against them for any of their actions.
