True, but there are ways to maximize the likelihood of coming upon a lucky event. For example, while it takes luck to meet a richfag who's ready to fund your company despite the fact he doesn't even know you, if you go to meetings geared toward startups and accelerators, you're quite a lot more likely to find such a person. If someone comes to you with an idea, it takes guts to leap and say yes, but if you don't have that attitude, you might never find another way to make $10m in 4 years.
Those things add up. Ultimately though, those things are still just ways to make maximal use of the hand you're dealt, nothing, NOTHING, will ever fix being dealt a shit hand. And maybe having the guts to say yes won't let you get $10m in 4 years, but rather leave you with 10 years in jail and a $5m fine for fraud because your partner did illegal dealings and pinned it all on you, and maybe the guy who's OK with funding your startup schemes to take the company from under you as soon as it becomes profitable, leaving you destitute despite all the work you put into this as he becomes a billionaire through no fault of his own.
