I just did exactly this
I have never been so depressed in my life, after just reading through the first couple dozen posts
I was one of the dudes who heard about it once or twice back then while shitposting on 4chan, but did no research on it and had zero interest in cryptocurrency
I realize that back then there several factors that would have most likely prevented me from getting ultra-cheap BTC (too brainlet to figure out mining and probably couldn't get the necessary computer/hardware to do it, not nearly as easy back then to buy BTC with fiat, the association with illegal drugs and cp, the tons and tons of fud and scam accusations whenever it was brought up, etc.). But still...I can't help but feel regret
I made this same fucking mistake with ETH, XRP and XMR (Monero was actually the worst one for me because unlike with the others, I actually DID see its potential and tried to get some XMR early when it was cheap. But I had a Windows computer and they didn't have a compatible GUI wallet I could use at the time, so I just wrote it off as an amateur project and forgot about it until it mooned (I was only using locally-stored wallets instead of exchanges back then, and I'm not sure if it was on any notable exchange at the time)

Do you have a history of hoarding/saving everything else in your life?
I don't mean random medals from high school soccer, I mean stocks and money?

Odds on that you would have sold the coins at 100, or 500, or at most 1000, nobody anywhere predicted the rise to what it is and after all that let's say you did. The market back then was flying by the seat of it's pants.

Where would you have exchanged them at the time?
Exchanges were hacked all the fucking time, you very well likely could have just made some scammer rich.
Do you even think you'd remember your wallet and keys? Or be sure the hard drive would maintain it's integrity for 10 years?

And after all that....that *all* of those factors would line up?

Anon, there's a reason almost nobody got that lucky and it's because it's next to fucking impossible. Relax, have a laugh about it, it's a nice scenario and I'd be happy for you if you were rich as hell too but it's a fantasy.

The ones we really have to feel sorry for are the guys who bought thousands of them and then threw the hard drives away...those poor cunts need god.

This is a very underrated reason why many anons who are regretting not getting BTC back then, probably wouldn't have gotten any even if they tried to
You have to remember, before bitcoin was mainstream, it was seen as being shady as fuck due to its use for hard drugs, cp and black market credit card info. And it wasn't just seen this way by normies; even 4channers were wary of it for these reasons
There was a fear back then that putting any of your credit card/passport info on a site associated with bitcoin, was a high risk for getting your personal info stolen in a hack or exit scam
This is a fear that is still present today to a lesser extent. There are anons posting right now who are deep into crypto but have never even thought about giving their credit card or government ID to even the most legitimate regulated crypto exchanges
