Sentinel ecosystem is looking forward to it's ongoing process of expansion towards its Tendermint based mainnet, some of the recent developments:
Tendermint V2 Client and private nets which will be updated to the main Github.

https://medium.com/sentinel/sentinel-network-the-transition-to-tendermint-within-the-cosmos-network-9e0022bfb03c

Sentinel's Contribution to the Cosmos SDK
>Fixed an issue the In IBC prototype where there were problems with incorrect sequences in the process of relaying transactions between chains. https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/2896
>Fixed an issue relating to queries where the data doesn't have proofs https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/3236
>Fixed an issue which led to a block delay in querying the account, implemented a new query method to resolve the delay. . https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/3767
>Reported the wrong implementation of Private key and Public key interfaces and proposed the best method to implement. For the full description check https://github.com/tendermint/tendermint/issues/373
>Requested and suggested a way to develop a solution to get the information (including time remaining) related to blocks that had yet to be synced. For the full description https://github.com/tendermint/tendermint/issues/3365
(for sentinel)
>creation and implementation of a deposit module, custom built to maintain status pertaining to locking of tokens. https://github.com/sentinel-official/hub/tree/development/x/deposit
>mechanism for locking and releasing tokens based on the application requirements, wherein this case the user had to lock tokens in order to initiate a DVPN subscription https://github.com/sentinel-official/hub/blob/development/x/vpn/handler.go#L158

white-labelled enterprises on the Sentinel dVPN network will be integrating with real-world fiat payment channels through channels that will authorize off-chain (e.g credit card) to consume unlimited bandwidth from the network for a specific amount of time.

i tought sent was dead, nice to see development is still ongoing, when is main net going to be released ?

>> No.18752005

>>18751852
main net should be released around august/September, after cosmos game of zones will be completed and IBC released on main net, that way sentinel will be directly interoperable with cosmos and all other tendermint based chains like:
>iris
>aragon
>binance chain
>okex chain
>persitance
>foam
>comdex
>althea
etc...

Sentinel will be working with entrepreneurs and existing organizations to help them establish their own white-labelled VPN company at minimal cost or difficulty.

Enterprise node hosts will be paid in SENT

Why would entrepreneurs want to work with Sentinel?

Painpoints/barriers to entry for a new VPN organization:

1) Cost of client development (mobile/desktop)

2) Management of nodes/handling DCMA requests

3) Potential security threats/risk of getting hacked

in which way ?
mysterium can't scale cause its ETH based, end users are forced to hold both eth and mysterium coin, sentinel is payment agnostic (it will accept all crypto through IBC)
also sentinel has an enterprise focused solution which will allow any legacy vpn provider to easily transition to a more decentralized architecture

>> No.18752731

I like the tech (having thorough background knowledge in Tor and VPNs) but you were the one that shilled it a year ago and I’m down 95%. I fear this will go the way of Orchid, only without coinbase listing. Just too niche and the world isn’t ready for dvpns.

>> No.18752831

Why should I buy crypto then have to use that crypto to buy sent to then use the VPN? When I could just use proton, paying in fiat. So much easier.

VPNs are centralized and inherently unsafe. A big VPN a year ago when this was shilled claimed to delete all logs/not have data retention but had the logs for FBI when they busted a CP user. That was the canary in the coal mine, just proving that VPNs are likely backdoored and compromised to begin with. Which is why a dVPN that uses a Tor layer is inherently safer.

I don't think you have to use sent. That is mainly for staking. I believe they have also addressed the issue of paying with fiat. Not 100% certain but I have been holding this forever and check on it every now and then for some updates. Seems like a lot of development.

dVPNs are one of the best crypto niches, they just lack proper marketing, sent will not get to its fait value till it gets on a better exchange like kucoin or binance, im looking forward to the main net swap, devs have been saying enterprise and legacy funds will be on boarded

fiat gateways are planned as its said in the opening post, when the v2 tendermint client will be released the experience for end users will be as easy as any legacy vpn with the ability to pay with credit cards, with the benefit of the added secrity and the ability to monetize your own bandwidth

How can Sentinel help?

1) Free open-source clients available for branding customization

2) Community-based network of node farms who have the ability to abstract away the difficulties of DCMA mitigation from the VPN companies

3) Provably end-to-end encrypted ‘dVPN’

The responsibilities of the VPN companies include:

1) Legal registration and integration with the on-ramp

2) Proprietary method of customer acquisition (e.g demographically targeted SEO/SEM campaigns)

Lel you're definitely the same one that shilled it originally, I even kept some of the OC for safekeeping. I think it's a cool project... from a distance. While I can continue to use it for free in testnet, the token is worthless, and I'm still down literally 79.32% (after checking)

Yeah, I honestly love VPN implementation with crypto (and decentralized), the EFF part of my gets rock hard. But even Orchid is basically the most worthless coin on Coinbase with the least volume, and it's supposed to be the Blue Chip version of SENT. Sentinel has a decent amount of nodes and the tech updates look awesome, I just think that there's not a big enough niche community in crypto (in itself already niche) that see dVPNs valuable, even if they're the same morons who think VPNs are secure and use Nord.

>> No.18753218

>>18753127
i think demand needs to be created to specific initiatives , main net will allow referrals so i expect most shills on crypto twitter to offer their own branded dvpn or use an external white label enterprise solution.
in the end its the same for all coins people notice after volume comes and price increases

No shit, doesn’t make that untrue though. If one person gets v& for something VPNs are supposed to safeguard against (regardless of original intent; drugs, espionage etc) then there’s not even a point in using a significant portion of them. There’s also no way of knowing which are backdoored obviously.

VPN posting you mean. Your IP doesn't randomly change when you post from a phone. I know this because I regularly post from my phone.

It's not like the trick of using a VPN to fake "organic conversation" in SENT threads is some new thing, I saw it for months back in 2019

No no no. Wrong. End user will pay with fiat and not even have to know what crypto is, that’s why they build on Cosmos since 3 years now, for IBC and atomic swaps, end user doesn’t have to understand any of this. Same reason you don’t understand how your handset creates the image you are looking at right now, you just use it. The SENT (true utility) token will be used to incentivise the validators on the network, like other real crypto utility networks which are so rare because of all the moronic scams. Sentinel will go mainstream and The network will be valued by transactional throughput, and will reach a 9 and eventually 10 figure market cap, I promise you. Sentinel enterprise private networks are coming. Governments and defense companies will have Sentinel private networks and even the likes of Nord will have no choice but to utilise Sentinel network infrastructure. It’s go time biz!

Although I don’t give a fuck desu, I think the ideas are cool behind SENT but Im skeptical if it’ll ever achieve anything based on market interest alone.
