29 years old
30k student loan debt
only 60 college credits (depressed fag for years)
no work experience past decade
800$ left in bank account
live with mom

What would you do if you were me? I can feel myself falling into the dark abyss of time, poverty, and mediocrity. I am strongly considering joining the military just to get some kind of skills and to get the hell out of my mom's basement. I am computer savvy but also socially retarded. The pay is slightly above minimum wage but afterwards they pay for school and housing for 36 months making it effectively a 50k a year salary for the 4 years you're in it from a rough estimate. Is this a terrible financial decision? WWYD?

I just want to be financially independent by the time I'm in my mid 30s.

Same seat except I'm 26. I would not do the military thing, lot's of low iq people there.

Get a job save up money figure out a degree or something you can do in a reasonable time frame. Become an electrician,CNC, etc. Then on your own time do what you want to do.

The Army is a great idea anon, but you are going to need to toughen up and just deal with bullshit for the duration of your enlistment.

I was in a similar situation except 25/26 years old. I joined the military and it really turned my life around.

I would suggest you look into it but be smart about it. I am blessed with the ability to do well in standardized testing so I was able to pick any job I wanted from the enlistment choices. You can read on the internet about what jobs are going to be like, etc.

It can be a good opportunity to make it on your own, travel, pay off your student loan debt, not feel like a drain on your parents, etc.

If you don't wanna do the military thing then you just need to buckle down and get a job...

also about military pay being slightly above minimum wage... are you in the US? because if so that is completely false.

You make great benefits and good money. Much more than a McDonalds worker.

don't you have any goberment internship programs for activating NEETs on the job market? here in Europe I took one and was able to get entry level junior position in some office after 5 months...then paid my (significantly smaller) debts and now trying to figure out where to go from here, so far i'm still on /biz/

BTW hiring will be frozen in my and many other companies due to virus/recession

The military is a great idea for you driftless fucks. Choose something with computers or electronics, preferably requiring a clearance, do your hitch and get out and contract or go back to school. Alternatively, they MAY pay off your loans (be advised that this will be taxable income and you’ll owe a ton on it).

Are you a pussy? Join the air force. Do you like ladyboys and asians? Navy. Are you a fucking retard? Marines. None of those three? Army.

PS listen to your NCOs, go to the gym, save your money, don’t drink too much, don’t get married or buy a fucking charger

Why don’t you just pretend to be severely autistic and get government benefits. Your mother could even be your caretaker and she’ll make money off you being a filthy leach

The dollar is about to collapse. Israel and the fed won’t be able to pump any more minimum wage shekels to the military.

Your only hope now is to get silver and gold

i don't want to say, sorry.

It all depends on lifestyle...

you are pretty old as far as the military is concerned. you should look up enlistment age caps, because 29 might be too old for the USAF. Your only option might be Army.

>>18718252
whoops, sorry OP. they changed the max age limits during the time I was in. you are good for all branches.
