If you do options responsibly (i.e. not like /smg/), it has the same risk profile, potential free profit in otm covered calls, and much better risk protection (you never have to fear gaps) for a relatively small, pseudo-flat fee. You need to play options if you want to make a lot of money fast or lose all your money instantly. And probably the first will happen, then the second. investing is more stable the issue is that a lot of people here (and on WSB *cough couhg*) don't have huge portfolios are fucking around with relatively small amounts of money, so single digit gains be disappointing when you get a taste of the huge swings options will give you. In this sense it is very much like the thrill of gambling. Also it's difficult for you as a retail investor to "short" stocks without options.

Anyway the main thing to take away is you will eventually make a wrong call on your option play and it can majorly hurt you UNLESS you use more advanced options strategies to limit your risk. It's hard to use these without experience though.

Look up how rebalancing works so you don't hold leveraged etfs like some of the brainlets here

Quite frankly, developing such an algorithm to within an acceptable error rate is not worth the time or effort. Except maybe to sell it for billions. But maybe you'd have made billions just investing in the time it would take to build such a program (which is doable by the way, but expect an accuracy of no more than 75% on direction alone, and maybe 90% on time + conviction).
