Someone please refute my BAM thesis, I want alternate opinions to make sure I'm being rational.

BAM is excellently poised to take advantage of this downturn, more capital has been flowing to alternative investments. And that capital is looking to take advantage of trends. Trends brookfield has been studying for the past decade. They spend 6 years in india waiting for the perfect time to invest, they bided their time in 2019, turning down inflated deals and buying oaktree because they knew what was coming. And now it has come

If people want returns, they won't go to the banks, they won't go to bonds, and the wealthy (who hate volatility) won't look to pure equities, you know where they'll look? BAM. It's that simple.

Mostly just a preference, BAM has been buying lots of utilities in 3rd world countries for insanely cheap, and as emerging markets go under they're gonna get more cheapies, Oaktree is gonna perform wonderfully in a distressed credit environment. Blackstone isn't a horrible buy, it's gonna benefit from an increasing allocation to alternative assets, but I think Brookfield is better prepared for a downturn with safer assets and less of an exposure to pure financial markets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnPmg0R1M04

Just listen to it in the background sometime. Basically Freud's theories on the subconscious was put into practical use by his nephew Bernays in America and it was the equivalent of inventing the atom bomb in terms of how it became weaponized. You can't simply uninvent the atom bomb.

tl;dw
Propaganda and the influence of the masses isn't a bad thing inherently. They cannot be trusted to regulate themselves. If you have an idea that is really good, you can't wait for everyone to come around to it on their own. You must use propaganda and subconscious persuasion with a benevolent hand on a large scale.

Democracy replacing kings also helped turn this influence into a free competition among corporations, aristocrats, and powerful bad organizations to mold the masses in new ways.

Whats your reasoning?
2008 was bad, and we had a 60% drop.
We have been on the greatest bull run in history for a decade fueled by unimaginable amounts of debt.
2020 is going to be far worse than 2008 because it hits every single business in the entire world, every single bank, every single country. People are so delusional, they think we can just 'go back.' Everyone who has any debt will be drained dry until there is nothing left to take. This is the greatest debt crisis in the history of the world. We will probably be going to war with China, if they dont collapse from the inside first.

This isn't "the end" or anything, you will be fine if you prepare. Have savings, have a plan, find a steady job, pay off debts. With just that, you'll be able to benefit from the next bull run.

I should add, any time a stock or index oscillates up and down with a closing envelope, it means that the stock is closing into a distinct price where both sellers and buyers agree.
As a result, two things happen, either a crab or a disjoint. A disjoint is when the sellers or buyers explosively disagree and the market shoots up or down. The way you predict the direction is through resistance lines and volume.

This fall was pretty predictable because volume was very low and our envelope closed almost right against a resistance line. We'd need to break the moving average of the SMA AND we'd need to do it with very little people when everyone is holding onto bags that they wanna dump ASAP

That's the reason they are useless. Either you daytrade and thus don't need them, or you don't daytrade and thus don't need them (you'll look at your stocks once a day/week/month or whatever your timeline is, setup your stop losses and optionally take profits appropriately, and let 'er rip). There is no reasonable scenario where an alert is useful because if you're so busy making a move that you can't see a new move coming and thus need an alert (the one thing alerts are meant for), you are currently making too many trades at once and can't afford to take that trade that the alert is telling you about.

That's the gist of trading, but if you put your stop too high you'll get stopped instantly and if you put it too low you'll lose too much money. Yeah that's what you do, you buy the stock and then before it goes down you sell it. The trick is to buy the ones that go up, which are the only stocks you should ever be holding since you're selling them before they go down. Another thing you can do is sell a stock and then buy it before it goes up. That's a really good trick because some times the whole market is going down and you don't have any stock so you have to sell the stock first and then buy it before it goes up.

>One of my favorite cases involves the McDonnell Douglas airliner evacuation test. Before a new airliner can be sold, the government requires that it pass an evacuation test, during which a full load of passengers must get out in some short period of time. The government directs that the test be realistic. So you can’t pass by evacuating only twenty-year-old athletes. So McDonnell Douglas scheduled such a test in a darkened hangar using a lot of old people as evacuees. The passenger cabin was, say, twenty feet above the concrete floor of the hangar and was to be evacuated through moderately flimsy rubber chutes. The first test was made in the morning. There were about twenty very serious injuries, and the evacuation took so long it flunked the time test. So what did McDonnell Douglas next do? It repeated the test in the afternoon, and this time there was another failure, with about twenty more serious injuries, including one case of permanent paralysis.

You SHOULDN'T be looking at the market that often anon. You're doing something wrong if you are. Even as a daytrader, you shouldn't be watching graphs for more than an hour or so. If you failed to find any entry in a whole hour, it means you failed your market study. Work on that instead. If you did find entries but didn't know how to get out, you need to work on understanding how to setup orders correctly. If you knew how to get out but it took too long, either you need to work on better entries (or not taking every deal you see but rather only the best deals), or you need to use a faster timeframe.

>What psychological tendencies contributed to this terrible result? Well, using my, tendency list as a check-list, I come up with the following explanation. Reward-Superresponse Tendency drove McDonnell Douglas to act fast. It couldn’t sell its airliner until it passed the test. Also pushing the company was Doubt-Avoidance Tendency with its natural drive to arrive at a decision and run with it. Then the government’s direction that the test be realistic drove Authority-Misinfluence Tendency into the mischief of causing McDonnell Douglas to overreact by using what was obviously too dangerous a test method. By now the course of action had been decided, so Inconsistency Avoidance Tendency helped preserve the near idiotic plan. When all the old people got to the dark hangar, with its high airline cabin and concrete floor, the situation must have made McDonnell Douglas employees very queasy, but they saw other employees and supervisors not objecting. Social Proof Tendency, therefore, swamped the queasiness. And this allowed continued action as planned, a continuation that was aided by more Authority Overinfluence Tendency. Then came the disaster of the morning test with its failure, plus serious injuries. McDonnell Douglas ignored the strong disconfirming evidence from the failure of the first test because confirmation bias, aided by the triggering of strong Deprival Superreaction Tendency favored maintaining the original plan. McDonnell Douglas’ Deprival Superreaction Tendency was now like that which causes a gambler, bent on getting even after a huge loss, to make his final big bet. After all, McDonnell Douglas was going to lose a lot if it didn’t pass its test as scheduled. More psychology-based explanation can probably be made, but the foregoing discussion is complete enough to demonstrate the utility of my system when used in a checklist mode.

Boeing is McDonnell Douglas 2.0

You start the lines at the start of the new wedge. The orange line is the 50 period SMA line. The other two lines (moving horizontally) are from the first wedge that was broken in November (I think that's when it was broken). So If the market followed its original pattern, it would end up here.

>> No.18609645

>>18609605
The long sloping one is the bull market trendline, the long horizontal ones are long term areas of support/resistance and the 4 ones you can see are wedges that designate trendlines.

No. A stop order would trigger a market sell, which is where you get fucked. You want a stop limit order. The limit price—the lowest price you will accept—is triggered when the stock falls to the stop price.
Day trading is a great way to lose a lot of money quickly, so be careful. If I'm day trading a biomeme or on a mission with my fellow retards here I usually give myself between 1%-2% (sometimes up to 5%) of my buy price and my stop limit. That way it can go down just a bit before hopefully going up. As it goes up I adjust my limit to lock in profit.

I believe the first drop was the "China Panic" which s fueled by the shutdown of China. We have not even seen the impacts of US shutdown or oil crisis yet. Its a cascading effect. Smaller dominoes falling into larger dominoes until nothing is left standing. A spiral of death. We only postponed it temporarily with historic government measures, but it wont work. it might be labeled this in the history books, but the drop is likely to do more with the coming defaults on shitty over leveraged companies and we're still looking at the coming defaults - and the cascade. The indices are not representative of the damage that's going to absolutely rape small businesses, the medium and large businesses outside of specific industries look like they'll do fine. It's also been stated a few times, that there's very little to put money into other than stocks. The eagerness to buy and the flood of money into SENPAI/ANG should be evidence. I will guess that bedrock is 1500, and that we won't meaningfully penetrate 1800. if we go deflationary in the midterm, then it's a different story.

Most people wont have any money, none of these big companies will be making anything, no matter how big. Everything will drop across the board as spending power decreases, only things that are "depression proof" are food, utilities and medicine, but they will still go down. Just because it doesn't collapse in a week doesn't mean we aren't going down. Before 2008, we slid down 15% over a year, it took 3 months for the "big plunge" and then we bled for another half year before it was the bottom. You think everything just broke during the first drop? No. The ramifications of the global debt crisis have barely surfaced, the reality is catastrophic.

So NFLX (Netflix) earnings after hours blew everything out of the water. I had 10 shares on me and I enjoyed the rise at the moment but quickly realized I had to get out of my position to lock in the gains as they dwindled to 200, 150, 50, then negative 87 but I fucked up by pressing the wrong buttons or selected the wrong shit (first time trading and I was at work when shit blow off) so now I'm left HODLing for damage control. Because the earnings report was so good and people did predictably dumped during the last 15 minutes (437-431, stabilizing at 433) will there still be momentum moving towards Friday despite the red back and forth shitshow that was all day today (the USO debacle too)?
