Here’s the thing about options. They are extremely risky when you buy them short term and with little knowledge of the asset you’re trading. Buying April 24 calls for a stock you just heard of today is an easy way to lose all of your money immediately. Unlike stock which almost never goes down to $0, options are worthless if they don’t meet the strike price, meaning if you’re wrong, all of your money is gone.

If you think the market will go down, just invest some money in SQQQ and SDOW and try to make gains before a reversal. That way if you’re wrong you’ll only lose like 15%

I’d recommend for options for 5/1 gives you more time to sell except you do have to pay a little more. I personally don’t do week of options anymore because if it goes sideways by Friday you’re fucked. At least two week contracts it’s still a short term position but you can sell the contract on Monday still.
