Sup guse,I'm your free data consultant.

I made some projections for umemployment numbers based on google trends data from keywords: cares act unemployment unemployed and optimized the latency from 7 day integrals to match previous unemployment report.

This gives a projection of 7 million unemployed for this week, 2 million above the estimates. Conclusion: Sell everything.

Though it's good to mention that this extremely sensitive to what keywords you use. Propose better ones and I'll make the projection for you.

>> No.18495149

There were 2 biggest selling points for teslas imo, 1) allegedly protecting the environment. I say allegedly because the posers never thought about where they are getting their electricity for the cars from. 2) was savings. Average tesla owner could justify buying the tesla and going through the inconvenience of planning his routes around charging docks by telling himself that each time he drives it he's actually saving money due to petrol/oil prices.
With oil being so low, people might actually stick to buying conventional cars with lower emission. Tesla will have to attract customers to stay competitive, this means a new car that will cost a lot of money to develop, or possibly lowering the price of their existing cars which means lowering their profit margins. In the upcoming year I do not see a scenario where TESLA can keep the price of their stock as high as it currently is, lets not forget a lot of it was pumped by the wsb autsits, and Elon's gimmicks as well. Tesla will most definitely revisit the $200 levels and perhaps go lower.

I don't understand Uber investors. Sure they are a new space and sure its a common tech start up problem to be in the red for a while as you try to scale.
But Uber was founded in 2009 shortly after the crash as a way to get the unemployed some cash by becoming effectively non unionized taxi workers. The start of the great 10 year bull run bubble.
They grew to almost every US city, they were losing money. They finally got through a lot of municipal red tape, they were losing money. They expanded abroad, they were losing money. They are beginning to saturate most of the world markets, and they are still losing money. And now times might get touch, and they will be losing more money.
And yet uber investors still exist. 43 out of 44 quarters of just losing money and that 1 exception was from selling part of their business overseas. Has any company literally not made money for 11 years and continued to exist? Isn't its only comparisons ponzi schemes?

I see many people using Unemployment as a barometer for bearish sentiment. However lets look at the numbers.

The average salary in the USA is around $56k; broken down that is $1150 USD a week.

Unemployment benefits pay you half of your income, so normally on unemployment you would be making $575. However, with the extra $600 weekly to UI benefits you would be making $1175, actually more than what you would be making working.

Now, not everyone makes $56k. Actually over 60% of people in the USA make LESS than $56k. This means that 60% of people in the USA are actually being payed more on unemployment than their actual jobs. So in reality; unemployment numbers = 60% of those people are getting more capital than the jobs they are leaving for the next few months. This is actually a conservative estimate since most of the people losing their jobs seem to be retail and hospitality which are around or below this $56k threshold

By your math, we can just lay off everybody and the economy will boom.

Unemployment is an indication of business degree of solvency and future expectations, not primarily consumer spending. There is a difference between a dollar that is the result from the added value to companies (one salary dollar implies multiple times added value for the company) and dollar from taxes/debt. That benefit will need to be paid by the states/fed meaning significantly higher taxes in the future, however, there is less business activity to tax due to the layoff.
