If you make just $0.05 a month on monthly call premiums over twelve months on a $4.25 stock, then that's a more than 14% return over the year. That's pretty good in my book. A 14% return sounds pretty good to me for covered calls.

If you'd like higher call premiums, by relaxing one of my proprietary screening parameters slightly, I also got Cernovus Energy (CVE). That's going to have much higher call premiums, but you can decide for yourself if you want to be writing covered calls on oil & gas stocks at this point in time.

I wasn't really into AMRN before the drop, and I haven't been following what happened very closely, but it would be an interesting case to review to figure out what exactly happened, in case a similar opportunity arises in the future. These are some of the things I imagined could happen when I posted about it after their loss.

- The stock dropped a lot all of a sudden. You have contrarians who want to buy in thinking it's "oversold" regardless of whether the new share price is really below the fair value of the stock.
- There is also the fact that AMRN shareholders are often fanatics who don't want to admit defeat by selling out. Other AMRN shareholders, who originally bought in in the teens or twenties feel pressure to "average down" so they turn a profit on the stock (nevermind those earlier lots) or at least offset their losses.
- On the other hand you have shareholders who are panicking, seeing the court loss and/or the sharp drop in the the stock price and dump all their shares before it falls any lower. In most cases this is a knee-jerk reaction before evaluating what a new fair value would be in light of the change in circumstances. They were buying an AMRN that they expected to have a patent and regarded (maybe wrongly) an AMRN without a patent as worthless.
- On the other hand, I saw a comment on an article about the AMRN decision claiming that some AMRN analyst had estimated a fair value to AMRN of something like $7 in the case that they would lose the patent case.

One of the central themes being that the focus was on the sin of the individual and the separation they create with God, and that atonement required faith and direct submission to God's mercy.

>What the fuck does waving and then sacrificing a chicken have to do with atoning for sin? It's like spiritual usury.

1. The word "penultimate" means second-to-last (from the Latin word "paene," meaning "almost"). What you mean here is just the "ultimate atonement."
2. The scapegoat rite was given to the Jews directly by God. Their continuing to do it (or some evolution of it) is only a cause of reprobation insomuch as it constitutes a denial of our Lord, Jesus Christ. But the scapegoat rite itself is not something ridiculous on its face.
3. God commanded blood sacrifices in the Old Testament to atone for sin in multiple places. For example: "And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it." The animal sacrifice doesn't of its own power atone for sin, but God instituted the those sacrifices for that purpose (in the Old Testament). And this idea is something that's common to just about all humanity. It's not a concept that's unique to the Jews.

You have to buy 100 contracts, so the most you can lose is 420.00 dollars. You can make any amount of money, but options always risk 100% of your money and once they hit the expiration date they are either worth something (the intrinsic value) or nothing. Understand that you are able to sell your call at any time for the market value of the call-- this called selling to close and is what almost everyone who trades options does. You do NOT need to hold it to the expiry date. Options are worth more the farther out from the expiration date they are. As you get closer to the expiration date, the extra (time) value you get from the option goes to 0. Once you hit the expiration date the only value of the call is the intrinsic value, the difference between the strike price and the price of the stock. Good luck.

>Huge portion of people's portfolios are in ETFs
>Options market is primarily put and call options on various versions of these to bet on macroeconomic factors
>The stocks which are held in trust by the ETFs however are BORROWED from pension funds, meaning there aren't enough actual underlying stocks to cover both the book value of the ETF holder trust and the pension fund
>Most ETFs don't have nearly enough of the assets they are obligated to hold to payout in the case of a liquidation
>ETFs on paper are the most tax efficient & highest ROI way to hold a basket of stocks but are actually severely overvalued
>The passive investing phenomena has created so much demand for these assets that there's a major bubble in them
>This bubble creates major inefficiencies in the actual equities market, where blue chip companies with excellent finances like General Motors are trading at a P/E of 5.

>Bankruptcy is healthy for a business

This is true. Bankruptcy allows business to shake out the parasitical shareholders that keep whinging about things like "shareholder value" and demanding dividends. Shareholders are literal vampires. Most of them haven't even contributed any of the paid-in capital to the company. They just buy shares on the market and suck the poor companies dry.
