Yes, because they have a behemoth of a company behind it, and XRP is actually being used today for cross-border settlements. It isn't going anywhere, and it has been in Top 5 for 5+ years.

Yeah all the institutional backing (currently and in the future) temps me to put everything in it.

As the saying goes "no one want to be first and no one wants to be last", it will apply to XRP big time. Once the financial market sees a few big names get in Ripple(some are already in) they will flock to it in an attempt to say competitive and cutting edge.

The wild card is some institutions may try to use or create an alternative. XLM seems to be the most likely candidate for this. IBM is working with Stellar already.

That's the chart for most coins after the 2017 manipulated bull run. If you bought in late December of 2017, then you have most likely lost money. Percentages vary, and there are some coins, like ChainLink, that did a lot better than the rest of the market.

It's a question of will win. Rival banks will start using rival crypto. I do think XRP and ETH are safe holds - with btc being the standard (i.e the gold of crypto).
