>almost
We absolutely did. SF shut it down almost a week before the state did, which was a week before everyone else (save for Washington). Given the conditions in SF it should be a post-apocalyptic wasteland right now and it just isn't. It'll still spike and get worse for sure, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse at a worse rate than anywhere else.

The states that'll get really hammerfucked are the south. Given their lack of density, they should've been able to weather it done if they'd shut down earlier and obeyed social distancing, but they didn't and they aren't. Their governors still don't really believe in it and are only now shutting down due to political pressure, and half their populations still think it's all a liberal conspiracy and are ignoring it. Add to that the fact that a good chunk of the southern population lives on a diet purely of mountain dew, tobacco, and methamphetamine, and they're going to see a massive death rate. Which is fucking tragic. As a Californian, I'm not celebrating that at all. Those are my fellow Americans, and those are peoples' family and friends, and they're going to get massacred purely because of ignorance.

It always comes from China.

In 1993, Claude Hannoun, the leading expert on the 1918 flu for the Pasteur Institute, asserted the former virus was likely to have come from China. It then mutated in the United States near Boston and from there spread to Brest, France, Europe's battlefields, Europe, and the world with Allied soldiers and sailors as the main disseminators.[34]

In 2014, historian Mark Humphries argued that the mobilization of 96,000 Chinese laborers to work behind the British and French lines might have been the source of the pandemic. Humphries, of the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, based his conclusions on newly unearthed records. He found archival evidence that a respiratory illness that struck northern China in November 1917 was identified a year later by Chinese health officials as identical to the Spanish flu.[35][36]

LA will get hammered for sure. Really any major travel/shipping/financial/political hub that didn't shut down quick enough will get fucked.

I hope I'm wrong about the south. We did have plenty of boomers here that acted like it was all some liberal propaganda that changed their minds after the lockdown order came in, maybe they'll do the same in the south and the lack of density will help them whether it, we'll see. I've got friends all over the south from my time in the Marine Corps posting on social media about how it's all a hoax and going out of their way to have parties and shit specifically in spite of the lockdown orders. That's all I have to go off of so hopefully they're the shithead minority. My wife's parents live in Charlotte, in the space of a week they went from "it's all a liberal hoax to make trump lose the election" to "the world is going to end, we're hoarding as many supplies and ammunition as we can, try to find us after the collapse". I guess the latter is preferable to getting infected and dying.

Already did, pratt whitney non military part has been declining in Q4 anyhow and they already lowered guidance ahead of corona crisis mainly because of the 737 fiasco.
I only kept the military engine bit for this year - even though they already have a lot of contracts in place I assumed airlines ultimately taking delivery default and get out of the contracts for eg GTF and V2500, which is probably not true across the board. I slowly rebound 2021-2024, though your guess is as good as mine when we will see orders come in again. I am no aircraft expert but I understand service life depends on pressurization/depressurization and not time or distance flown, hence the conservative assumptions for the civil part.

Didnt look at LMT yet - mainly because RTX looked more attractive based on gut feel.

as an actual swede just let me inform you that usa is greatly over hyping how "poorly" sweden is handling corona. there's a lot different here in sweden and a lot of places have shut down. we are not allowed to gather more than 50 people in the same place and the police is doing their best to fine restaurants that don't have correct actions to help social distancing.

but what you need to understand is we have only 10 million people spread out across our whole country. how you need to handle corona is very different depending on how much space people are spread out across.

stockholm only has 0.97 million people, new york has 8.4 million.

For the other anon. Any social distancing rules that are scrapped before there is a vaccine, will make the death rate go up again. At the end of the day, you gotta figure out how much you want to kill the economy, because a tanked economy kills people too.

Except for Stockholm, the medical capacity is OK. Elective surgeries are cancelled. People avoid going to hospitals for sprained ankles for once. The proof of the pudding is the amount of deaths we all have a year from now, not the amount we have today.

>2. Trump fucked up and caused it all to happen
Trump created the corona task force in January 2020.

Meanwhile he was heavily distracted by the impeachment process that everybody knew wasn't going anywhere. It was so pointless several US media channels even stopped covering it.

The media (image related) kept telling everybody not to worry about Corona. Trump is heavily influenced by media, just like everybody else. But unlike everybody else he at least did what he could.

New York's major was encouraging people to ignore corona in Mars and go about their days as usual. Yet we're supposed to blame Trump?

Trump's going to landslide in November. Especially if they put someone with dementia up against him. Joe Biden is so far gone that the press have to translate what he is supposedly saying.

I think democrats relied heavily on people not paying attention and just voting for Joe because "Trump bad". If these people never actually watch Joe speak in full and just see a few clips that news put out where he seems normal, or read Joe-translations, then they might actually think having him as commander-in-chief is OK.

Then corona hit and people start watching Trump nearly every day, finding out he isn't that bad. Meanwhile they wonder where Joe even is.

Trump wins this election. But I wonder what will happen in 2024. Will politics go back to the boring drivel like in the past? Trump's a funny guy and he's speaks his mind without sugar coating things or wrapping them in politically correct nonsense.

It's meme. There are a shit ton of patterns in stock charts because you have a shit ton of algos with various different goals operating on the market. Hedge funds, liquidity algos, Market makers hedging out option delta, order flow algos, dark pool over/underflows.... You always have an market maker as middle man for every order. The stock market is a mess of algos and patterns. You never know when a pattern will emerge or how long it will continue. It's almost random. TA is 80% hindsight and the only people who speak out for it are noobs or people who are on the brink of "figuring out the stock market code" because that's how it feels like when TAing charts but they will always stay on that brink.

>Any social distancing rules that are scrapped before there is a vaccine, will make the death rate go up again.
Well not really. You can *very slowly* and gradually start to loosen up the restrictions after the apex is confirmed and behind. Actually this is likely to be the the most optimal way to handle the restrictions with limited resources and if cost of restriction measures are assumed to be a quadratic function of the propotion of reduced contacts. However, you will need to maintain significant restrictions until the vaccine deployment. Optimal control theory.

Quickly dropping out the restrictions will make you lose most of the benefit you got from the restrictions in the beginning.

Quant fin is not TA. It involves market models(Wiener/uhlenbeck process...), vol forecasts based on various additional data for option pricing arbitrage and lots of other things which you will never find under the label "TA".
TA almost never uses additional data but limits itself to past stock prices. You could call TA a very primitive form of quant fin but who really cares about terminology... It won't make you money is the point.

That's the entire point of TA you mongoloid, you look for the highest probability and enter a position in hope of it working out. Why do you think risk management is so important for successful traders? Because you will lose a majority of your trades, but since you know where the highest probability for a big reversal is at, your winning trades will net you more profit which in the end makes you profitable. It is obviously true that there's a shit ton of misinformation and pure bullshit about indicators that "educators" on different platforms are pushing on people, for example you can search for "indicators for day trading" on youtube and the top video promotes MACD and RSI for day trading which is idiotic

TA isn't predictive in the sense that "when I get this signal i will get a 3% move". you don't know how far a move will go. all you know is that price is currently trending up, for example. you print the next bar, it's still up. you print the next bar, it's still up. you print the next bar, it's no longer uptrending. you have the past and the present and you calculate the probability that the current move will continue, so instead of thinking of it like predicting the future it's more like knowing the past and present and calculating the conditions under which it is no longer doing the same thing anymore.

i guarantee you both don't know wtf you're talking about and >>18421605 likely thinks TA is just chart patterns. probably the easiest thing i can do is just link you to the man himself, mark douglass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhKJ9P3agRc there you go an hour explaining why you're wrong and what the point of TA is in the first place, enjoy.

You don't know. You're searching for correlations and hope that they carry on into the future. They don't have to. The more you search the likelier it is that you're just bending the criteria to your chart. I can search for pattern in the alignement of planets and starts and backtest them for stock market signals. Just because I found out that the stock goes up with a 80% probability when Uranus slides past Pluto it doesn't mean that that pattern holds up in the future nor is it likely.

honestly the way you make money has little to do with the TA, and everything to do with the risk management. the TA just gives you better odds than if you randomly chose to go long or short on any given trade, TA essentially gives you "zones of value" where the risk is reduced as much as possible and the reward is greater. you don't have to be right, you just have to be profitable. if you were taking 1:1 risk:reward bets and have a 51% win rate or higher, you're profitable even though you're barely right more than half the time. if you have 1:2 odds you just need to be right 34% or better, you could lose 2 and win 1 and be at break even.

the best way i can describe trading to you regardless of what kind of analysis you use, is that trading is only about finding high probability setups and risk management. that's it. that's all trading is. it's incredibly simple but also incredibly difficult for most people to handle, most people really can't handle losing money ever even a little. read mark douglass's "trading in the zone" it's a life changing book about trading psychology, he even shits on fundamental analysis in it.
