There is literally zero intrinsic value of crypto. The only legitimize reason to own crypto is so you can sell it for real money to someone else for a higher price. And the only reason that person buys it is to sell it to another for a higher number. And the only try that person buys it, etc...

This whole time all that happens is some CPUs, GPUs, and fiber optic wires will generate heat.

I understand the value potential, and understand the technology behind them.

That isn’t relevant because I care about actual value generated right now. For example, name me a few real world issues that bitcoin actually fixed. Not some arbitrary potential maybe use. I want real things.

For example: reason to invest in Visa: hundreds of millions of users, accepted worldwide, removes friction of payments on the ground, fraud protection, user can use it in any country, low fees, etc.

Bitcoin: buy illegal things online?? Will moon any day?

Bitcoin will crash even further this year. It's not a safe haven. It's not a substitute for fiat. It's virtually useless outside of speculation, but even its speculative value is going down. The gains are so meager that it's not even worth investing in it. Its only value proposition is the use it the black market. With the economy in its current state, the government introduce more regulation to crypto to prevent capital flight.

Then why can't they keep doing it? It's not pumping fast enough to get people to fomo. The whales/exchanges don't have enough liquidity to manipulate the market anymore. What's the point of even investing in crypto now? The gains are low, even lower than stocks. Holding isn't even safe. Completely nonsensical.

Hahaha. The only way I can purchase anything with crypto is:

1) Find the rare vendor that accepts some kind of crypto
2) Convert my real money to crypto
3) Make purchase
4) The vendor will than convert crypto to real money to pay workers and buy supplies and pay taxes

Which begs the question: why? Just make the purchase with the original real currency.

There currently is no way to have a completely closed loop crypto economy. It’s just a really expensive (due to its energy use) store of wealth. And unlike Gold, crypto depends if people agreeing that it means something. People could agree that shit coming out of my asshole is a store of value and it will be as real as Bitcoin.

Based on how fast new crypto currencies get formed owning anything is a waste of resources. You don’t know if some fancy new crypto gets released next year making Bitcoin obsolete.

Plus the little issue with it not having any legitimate value. Cannot pay taxes. Cannot pay fees.

The world’s biggest economy and the world’s biggest government requires USD to pay taxes. Who requires Bitcoin?

Also, is crypto a currency or is it a store of wealth or a vehicle of investment? Because it cannot be all three. And I argue it fails at any of them.

A currency works well when the value is relatively stable (like I am 99% confident that $100 of purchasing power today and next year will be basically the same thing), looking at Bitcoin I am not sure of how 1 Btc can buy today compared to even next month. So nobody will purchase anything with crypto if they think their money will be worth more soon. On the other hand, nobody will accept crypto if they think it’s value will go down quickly after you accept it. This volatility will just raise prices as a matter of protection. It will also decrease economic activity.

Is it a store of value? Like I said before, it can become useless in a few years if someone makes a better cryptocurrency or miners stop running their operations (without miners transactions will not get validated).

The only thing left is a vehicle of investment. But the issue with that is that you are investing in something that has no fundamentals (as shown above). So it’s pure gambling and/or a Ponzi Scheme.
