How is price """""""gouging"""""" any different than buying low stonks and selling high?
Do these retards even know what economy is? Do they understand what a free price system is and what happens when you artificially force prices to stay low during high demand? Yeah, you create shortage, and that's why people starve to death in socialist shitholes.

Supply Chains can't instantly produce a product. Sometimes products arn't even legally manufactured by any one but the intellectual property owner.

In situations where people price gouge there is often a logistics problem, so getting supplies to the factory, or to the consumer is another giant hurdle.

All the gouging business model does is take products out of the hands of people that need them, and store them in warehouses to be sold to the upper class for 20x the buy price.

Gougers exacerbate any shortage. They do not help the market.

Factories face increased demand from countries everywhere and raise their prices.

If you want to import for a crisis, you pay the higher price.

If you can't charge the new market rate when sell those imported masks, then you won't import them and there won't be masks.

Factories in China have been selling masks for WEEKS. Now I've heard there are problems with counterfeits but if you're an experienced importer rather than a neet trying to get rich quick, this shouldn't be an insurmountable problem for you.

Hospitals don't want to pay the higher prices to the people importing masks and in fact have reported them for "price gouging" because they're charging current market rates instead of previous market rates.

>Hospitals don't want to pay the higher prices to the people importing masks

So when you hear a hospital say there are no masks, really it means there are no masks for the price and terms they want.

They also don't want to prepay for masks, bone manufacturer saying that what commonly happens in a crisis is a customer will order from multiple vendors and then cancel most of the orders, fucking the vendor who paid up front to order. So prepaying should protect the vendor here if you're serious about buying masks but hospital admins won't do it.

Masks exist. They've been available for purchase for weeks. They're just not here because of hospital bean counters trying to save money by putting healthcare workers' health at risk.

It pisses me off because I donated over $10,000 for PPE before I knew this. While hospitals refuse to pay higher prices for PPE, people donating are paying the higher prices for them. Essentially, it's a bail out for shitty hospital administration.
