Investments that absolutely 100% pay off, like paying off credit cards that accrue interest, upgrading insulation in your home, buying in bulk or having a garden. If the plague has taught me anything, it's that no matter how good your projections are, random unpredictable shit can throw a wrench into the works, so let's discuss investments that you can't lose on, correcting for inflation (because CoDs are trash once corrected).

I just applied for a second credit card, $200 cash back on the first $500 in purchases. I want to spend that $500 on something that will either save me money or pay some dividends.

Hmm. Hilarious, shill.

I buy $2000 worth of materials every few months and turn it into $30k worth of products. If you're working a real job though, that won't work.

I'm on a pension and have all the time in the world after I'm done tending the garden and feeding the rabbits. Trying to decide if putting in solar should be my next move if there's anything better. What do you make, if you don't mind me asking?

Something from Chase, I already bank with them so it makes it easy to just pay everything at one place. It's $200 on $500 spent though. Pretty nice if you're just going to pay it off and then use it for Netflix or something, autopay and chop the card. For credit-building mostly, but I'll take the free money.

>10 grand upfront to save 11k
Was planning to source cheap and do the install myself, but I know it's not great, that's why I was asking. There's got to be something better. Electricity and food are pretty much the only things I spend money on anymore, and gardening shit so I can spend less money on food.

If you do self-install you can get the payback period on solar down under 5 years, which is worth it if you ask me. A really killer deal on buy-and-hold rental real estate might take 6 or 7 years to pay back (of course, you can sell a rental property for a profit, used solar goods not so much).

I did $1200 yesterday. Full disclosure: that's a good day lately. My numbers haven't dipped too much yet as a result of this.
March and April should should be $15k and $25k respectively, but I'm on track for more like January February numbers with the bug going around.

Honestly, I'm just grateful to still be able to do what I do. Stay humble; stay value oriented. :)

With increased income, you have to account for losses to taxes as well. I definitely prefer saving money over earning an equivalent amount.

>>18283037
I can see the advantage for someone spending money on that, I get a decent workout just being in the garden a couple hours each day.

>>18283071
>self-install
I'm still shopping around, but that was about the ROI I was expecting, too.
>buy-and-hold rental real estate
I was thinking about moving into a bigger place and just renting out a room or two to cover the mortgage, but I'm not a huge fan of people, so I don't know if it would be worth the possible conflicts, and I'm not in a good enough position financially to buy second home as a rental.

It wouldn't be an investment if is was guaranteed, all investment carries risk.

Converting your work to money, if you do have skills that will always be needed, is pretty much guaranteed to work as an "investment". I am also a fan of gardening, since growing food is pretty easy.

>upgrading insulation in your home

A meme. Do the calculations (all it takes for any investment, but so few do it), unless you currently live in a shed with no roof, it probably will never pay off.

>all investment carries risk.
Yes, but the risk of paying off credit cards right before the banks forgive all debt or of the sun no longer shining on solar panels would be pretty damn low.

>>18283150
It's subjective. I've definitely lived in shitholes where the furnace had to run constantly to keep the place above freezing. Depends mostly on how old the house is.
