Why do you think oil prices used to be at $60 per barrel when the most of OPEC can make profits at $10 to $40? They have a massive reserve and are pumping through a straw (usually) in order to jack up the prices.

Whenever others like the US or Russia act up and try to make a profit, they just churn out oil, lower the prices, drive everybody else out of business, then start sipping through the straw again.

Tech is currently overvalued, quarterly earning are going to boom tech stocks. People think that people staying home=more tech usage= stocks more value. Yet if there is little to no advertising cash coming in, then there is no point. Tech stocks like apple relying on bugmen manufacturing. Tech is also a luxury thing, absolutely NOT essential.

Transports and the like are unironically half priced in already. Boeing and the like might fall back to 90 (buy in at that point), but otherwise they have already taken the big fall.

Commodities have no price memory and all the american oil futures are dead or basically on fire because of massive debt. All of those companies operated on the assumption that oil would never dip below $60/barrel. The dividends will not pay out, they will not come back. Oil may "eventually" rise but over a time span of months if not years. These leveraged ETFs and futures are going to fuck you if you hold them that long you absolute retards.
If you really want oil stocks than go for the big boomerstocks like XON, CVX, BP, etc.

I have always seen that Canadian banks seem very strong in dividend performance. My take on them is that they are generally going to always be stable (CIBC, TD, BNS, RBC, BMO) because if they totally crash, then the entire Canadian economy is likely feeling some sort of collective downturn. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I LOVE STOCKS!!! Can you guys believe that there are websites where you can buy three and four-letter words, and people will actually buy those back from you at a higher price later? And some of those words send you regular cash payments just for holding them. And they even send you voting forms to express your opinion about things?? Stocks are AMAZING!!

>We may find ourselves in a world where people are now hyper afraid of flu season next winter. Mucinex?

I was suffering from probably just seasonal allergies a few weeks back so I went to Walgreens to get some some Mucinex or the generic expectorant equivalent to clear up congestion in my chest, motivated in no small part by a 4chan post I read where someone said that if another poster didn't take Mucinex to clear up their chest congestion, they would get pneumonia and die. So, I said, why not go to Walgreens to get some Mucinex? Sure enough, the Walgreens generic equivalent was much cheaper than the Mucinex brand product. The point being, when most customers go to the drugstore for some Mucinex and they see a price tag of $30 for that little box of medicine, they're going to look at the other items nearby on the shelf and pick up that cheaper generic instead. So, I don't know. The same thing goes for other medical products as well. We're probably better off buying stocks like Walgreens or CVS that sell these products, both Mucinex and generics, than whatever company makes Mucinex.

Buying stocks and then checking them maybe once a month or year is different than trying to actually "play" the stock market. Decide on a broker. A good starter is ameritrade but do your research about the various options out there.
Also don't buy into oil. It is beyond fucked at the moment and an absolute honeytrap for the layperson atm. Airlines do some research. A lot of them are in bad shape and a few might not even survive this (Delta and American).

I'm not saying that this is necessarily the case with Boeing, which I don't know anything about. I'm just saying this to show how "common sense" might might lead you disastrously astray. Basically yes, BUT companies that go under will never return to normal and "after the pandemic" can be 5 months or 5 years after.

https://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/

Right now people are still worried about the state of things. But people are less worried than 2 weeks ago, meaning the bottom could be around here.

However, personally I think before the week is out people will become more worried, because companies are just starting to miss rent and the Chinese Corona Pandemic is far from over. Also more and more will become unemployed, forced to sell their stocks, meaning prices will drop further. This is all speculation on my part, of course.

Putin is no longer buying gold. China will probably do the same as well as other oil producing nations. If markets continue to trend downward like a lot of people believe VIX will shoot through the roof again and institutions will be forced to sell everything (including gold) to remain solvent. There's very little case for further upside in gold. Retail speculators are a tiny fraction of demand, which is what retail speculators fail to understand.

I don't think Boeing is returning to the bull 300. But how do you gauge their value when they will always have a money tap of federal bailout money? GM's at least had strings attached and an expiration date.

I just wanted to put in my two cents that I don't think they'll ever go so low to where they will be concerned with failing, they could do like GM, declare "bankruptcy" then come out even leaner, stronger and better positioned.

i mean it's not a bad thought, when it all comes down to it it's just a matter of buying low and selling high. read on investopedia.com but wait a while before entering, start out small and invest in at least 15 companies. when you start hearing good news on TV that's your queue (reliable cure found or travel deemed safe). look up "dividend aristocrat" companies, they should be pretty safe to get going. just remember that if you enter the market too quickly you might need to wait years to make the same returns you otherwise would make in half the time.
