I have 10oz of gold and 20k in gold miners (Newcrest, SLR, some funds like NUGT lol).

Can someone give me a quick rundown on what the fuck China is attempting to do by buying ridiuclous amounts of gold from all over the world (especially Australia) and producing the most gold in the world right now, while only reporting 1,500 tonnes in reserves.

Meanwhile the US has massively reduced their gold holdings???

Is this the fucking final showdown of East and West economics???

USD hyper inflates by printing the fuck out of it to keep their system afloat, meanwhile China hedges a recession by sitting on a mountain of gold?

What happens if USD hyper inflates and China decides to peg a new currency (China Dollar?) to their gold reserves? If (when) gold moons, won't China (and also places like India, Russia, Turkey) who have insane amounts of private wealth in gold be rich as fuck?

I know I sound schizo-thread tier right now but I feel like i'm clutching out straws trying to figure the links between all of this out and surely one of you PMG bros will be able to run me through it.

I.e.

$20 USD weekly salary in 1910
$20 USD spot price per oz for gold 1910.

$20 USD is worthless in 2020.
1oz gold is still worth 1 weeks salary in 2020 (roughly?).

But all that means is gold wasn't impacted by inflation and performed horribly. If you could choose to be paid in USD, gold or SPY500 in 1910, SPY500 would perform the best.

So is the USA moving away from gold (and oy vey moving towards diamonds) as a cultural sign of wealth because they are scared of how much gold the rest of the world has???

And if the USD and the army and companies behind it can no longer afford to buy shit from Chinese factories because the USD inflates and China pegs to gold, isn't the US royally fucked? They have (China) manipulated their currency to drop their FX rate to make manufacturing attractive in China but what if they poomp it bog style by pegging to gold and China's currency moons. RED PILL ME

Entire world economy prices EVERYTHING (bonds, equities, gold, their own currency) against the 'yardstick of value' which is the purchase price parity dollar value index of the USD.

But that's only because they stopped measuring value against gold.

What happens if the rest of the world goes fuck you USD is worth shit and they start pricing everything off the old world standard of monetary value, gold, and the US has no reserves and the entire US becomes a fucking 3rd world country because all they have is equities and USD (and USD bonds/treasuries) and both are about to be worthless if China and India start tracking value in gold.

They just need to go "how much USD did you just print, that means you have $100bn USD per 1kg of gold, so your currency is worthless in our new FX standard of gold backed value. Meanwhile we have 150,000 tonnes across China, India, etc. and we are rich as fuck????????????????????????

Is this why gold has been artificially suppressed since fractional-reserve banking was introduced????? Otherwise I could just borrow money in 1800s and invest it in gold and the value of gold would outstrip the interest???????

They are seeking to reclaim the crown as world leader. They export none of their domestic gold also. Who has the gold makes the rules...

Yes

Yes

>China hedges a recession by sitting on a mountain of gold?
Yes, they have lots of domestic debt but more savings

>What happens if USD hyper inflates and China decides to peg a new currency (China Dollar?) to their gold reserves?
The US is fucked proper. China hasnt wanted the price to run wild yet as they are still buyers. Russia will likely become a strong world power. Little debt, lots of gold and produces petroleum

People cooperate more when they have an economic incentive to, meaning someone has to get paid. If someone has to be paid its at least fair they’re paid something real like gold or silver and not fiat paper.

Nigger, everyone and their brother thinks that they can just swap silver for gold when the ratio drops. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET SHIT. Yes, silver will rise exponentially higher in percentage, but you are high off your ass if you think anyone holding gold is going to swap it for silver after the ratio dumps. You will be lucky to get a 1/10 oz of gold in exchange for silver, and that's only if that person just wants silver to exchange for goods using smaller denominations of value. You should only be buying silver if you're already over leveraged in gold, which is and always will be king. Gold is soon to be completely unobtainable, just wait and you'll see...

Why would you be fucked? If you analyse the US dollar like a cryptocurrency you would conclude it is a shitcoin that only a moron would invest in.

Gold and silver have been real money since the beginning of history and is a safe haven asset against currency collapses and depressions. Furthermore, we're living in a unique economic scenario as we have "paper gold" and "paper silver" artificially lowering the price by staggering amounts, which when the scheme inevitably collapses (along with the US dollar too, for that matter), the holders of physical gold/silver could see truly astronomical gains.

I don't like to make specific price predictions, but if you see an outright currency collapse there is nothing unreasonable about seeing silver selling upwards of $1000 an ounce (current dollar valuation) as everyone in the world sells everything they have for pennies on the dollar just trying to prevent themselves from being left with nothing but glorified toilet paper.

Even ignoring the above scenario, that shouldn't stop you from making reasonable calculations about what your projection is for the USD compared to what your projections are for precious metals (even sans mooning event).

In my personal opinion, if you can afford it without harming yourself financially, strive to own 1 ounce of gold and between 50-100 ounces of silver. That's not going to set you back a ruinous amount, and even if everything I said is wrong you can larp that you own pirate treasure and you'll at least have enough non-cash, liquid assets that you could feed yourself for a year in case of a depression.

READ THIS - RELEVANT INFORMATION

There is still lots of silver available in here Germany. The following website allows you to compare prices for various coins from different online dealers in Germany.

https://www.gold-preisvergleich.de/

The word “Preisvergleich“ translated means “price comparison”. In Germany there is a 7% sales tax for certain silver coins and 19% for silver in general while gold remains completely tax free. The demand for silver has therefore been here comparatively low. Conclusively most forms of silver are still in stock and are even available in larger quantities. Premiums have also not risen as much as in other places so that prices are still comparatively low here despite the aforementioned tax. Remember that these prices do not include shipping and some offers are only presale/preorder. Also expect shipping to take significantly longer because of the China virus.

You're physically unable to sell those for any worthwhile amount. What do you plan to do - go to a pawn shop and get price swindled?

I honestly dont see why bullets wouldnt be the new currency in a SHTF situation

9mm- 15 cents

5.56 - 25 cents

12 ga 00 - 75 cents

etc.

Ok madmax faggots, if society collapses, the elite would still use gold, even if they're barbarians, while the lower classes would trade with ammo, tp, bottle caps, etc.

Yes and a third of them will hangfire when you try to use them, like the majority of milsurp ammo from that long ago.

So yes ammo still goes bad over time, and again it is not fungible whatsoever, so the idea that ammo is going to be a currency is nonsensical. An economic collapse is not like a video game.

Well put. The 4 year election cycle is a huge meme and extremely unfortunate for the overall well being of a country. Dictatorships are generally much more capable of thinking ahead and willing to do unpopular but necessary things because they don't need to fear reelection.

I went to my LCS today to see about a 1/4oz gold coin. The cheapest they have is this for $400. Is that a good buy? Most of the others were more like $500, so I am trying to figure out if there is a reason this one is cheap.

I feel like at those prices the dollar wouldn't really mean much anymore. It would be a catch-22 situation. Sure, a silver coin can get you 300k, but that 300k probably isn't even enough for a full cart of groceries at that point. Pipe dream.
