Equity research? Gonna need a bachelors in finance, statistics, or economics. And, be prepared to hustle your ass off, those jobs have high competition. Otherwise you'll be riding spreadsheets in a basement at an equity firm for years, for shit pay. Stock analysts are dime a dozen. Good luck.

Hey OP, I was a math major an decided not to become an actuary because stonks are more fun. Financial analyst is what I am doing, I am just decent at math, I ranked top 50% in national examinations at the master/phd level, but I am much better in qualitative reasoning. Recommend financial analyst if you like fun stonk investing.
