That are many big IFs. What guarantees you that a hypothetical new fiat system - most likely all digital and highly monitored - will allow transaction and exchange as you desire. The point of a future fiat system is to enact more restriction and assess more control through it.
You might have to find someone who exchanges your gold into valuables under the table. Then gold will be valued by your trading partner and not by some fiat based market and there's a good chance it will be "buy you" way less than it would currently do in our fiat valued system since your trading partner is subject to the restrictions as well.
Goldbugs rarely think about these possibillities.
