No. They are based on market value, which can be here today, gone tomorrow. If the world were to fall, useless internet coins would likely cease to exist.

Money and may other things are similar.

Labor has actual value, food has actual value, comfort has actual value, and so on. If you construct a non market based analysis of how all of the desires are met, you will find thay crypto is some of the least valuable things in existence. In fact I would not be surprised if there was not more interest (labors in form of money) given to the health and wellness OTC markets than cryptocurrencies. Considering health and wellness provide more utility than does bit corns and the like.

If there is no base value/demand, then you are betting.

Demand is rooted in the power of desire. The more desire there is, the more demand, and hence the more marketable value.

Some things may not cease in value for a substantial amount of time. But cryptos, really it's speculative in nature, and I can almost guarantee that when the banks can profit off of such things, they will, if they haven't started already.
