I don't get it though. If the death rate of corona is like 1% then why is the reaction so dramatic from governments. You know, business could be going as usual with just some extra boomers dying. Why did every fucking country close their airports and restricted trade? Is it because most of Europe is elderly and this is the white man's last stand? Just let go, Europe. Just like Rome gave you civilizations, you gave us civilization. LET GO. YOU HAVE TO DIE NOW. YOU CAN'T TAKE US ALL DOWN WITH YOU.

>If the death rate of corona is like 1%
It's already about 3% and that's with hospitals still functioning normally. When they get overwhelmed it will go up, all the way to about 10%. And almost everyone is projected to be infected. So 10% of the planet will probably die this year.

Also I bet you wouldn't be saying this if you were one of those projected to die. Age is creeping downwards with the virus currently. You may very well be projected to die in a few months

The issue isn't the fatality rate, at all.
The issue is that 15-25% of people with the virus require ICU. ICU is intensive care unit (extreme hospitalization, reserved for post surgery or risk of death situations)

That absolutely SLAMS hospital systems which results in not only significant, major economic costs, but also more people dying of basic preventable stuff like heart attacks because the system is clogged up.

>So 10% of the planet will probably die this year.
But the economy could still run because 90% of this 10% will be retired boomers. Why are we shutting down the fucking economy?

>>17830437
No they don't. Well, I guess boomers should vote for Trump in the next election and then get the fuck out of my planet.

>>17830469
I have asthma so yeah I could die but the economy is more important. One man's death is not a great loss for the Republic.

>>17830472
Inheritance laws will sort it out.

LET GO BOOMERS.
LET GO EUROPE.
YOU HAD A GOOD RUN.

Look, guys, it's not like these things ever repeat or come in waves.

Once we're over the peak, that's it. It'll be gone.

Did you know that's why we went for 5.56? Wounded soldiers require much more resources than dead ones. Bayonets used to be triangular because it made the cut almost impossible to close.

As a strategy this was a very good one.

The economy was phony baloney. This was a bluff call that worked.
