the main advantages of day trading are that you have the opportunity to make way more money than position trading and it is much easier to manage risk because spreads are generally on the order of 1-2 pennies most of the time and stop losses actually work. you get to trade the hype leading up to catalysts and trade the aftermath from catalysts, in both instances you get to know the results and the sentiment, whereas someone trying to play the event itself (buying before ER hoping it's good for example) is more or less guessing and doesn't have that benefit of actually knowing how to bet. the main disadvantage is that you have to be there to watch the markets while trading so it's more time-consuming, but you don't have to deal with gapping pretty much ever.

i'd say the benefits of day trading far outweigh the downsides. hell even if you use the excuse of work taking up your time, you can always trade forex or the /ES during after hours and still make good money there.

With TDA if the market price us better than what you specified (because the stock went up as you were typing) it gets you the better price
Likewise if you go to buy and specify a price higher than the current the price it buys the current price

This is relevant because in the past big boy investors using trading terminals have been fucked by adding or excluding a zero

Even those who appear to have no symptoms could be suffering unseen organ inflammation and harm that we won't find out for years.
