Maybe NOW they’re doing that, but not before it became obviously an absolute emergency. And if it’s something people do by reflex, if it’s something that people would be offended if you rejected them, well... There are drawbacks to having an affectionate culture and gains from having a distant bug culture.

Stay safe.

So which stocks are already worth buying (have hit peak panic) and which ones will drop further ?
I think oil and banks are buyable now, at least the ones that you know for 'sure' won't go bust, so no DB.
I think cruise lines need to lose a lot more, yes, cruises were very profitable before this hit, but
-they might go bust
-boomers have lost a lot of money in this crash -> won't go cruisin for a while
-coronavirus fucked the reputation of cruises
-literally no one will book a cruise for 6 months or more.
I'm thinking Carnival might be a buy at $15.5. RCL needs to go down to 32 or something, there is still some air in that bubble.
What about airlines? Every 97 IQ person thinks they are so smart for buying airlines now, which inflates them a bit even when they are going down. Looking for Delta as soon as it hits $39 a good idea? I have a feeling they are secretly buying a fuel reserve now that it's cheap, and people will 'make up' for a lost summer vacation around christmas time, or otherwise next year. $70 eoy 2021 wouldn't surprise me.
Tesla? I think there is still at least $200 hype in there, but it's a good company with amazing prospects. I'd buy a couple of shares at 375 and let them sit.
AAPL? They'll probably go down a bit more now, but what if they don't manage to bring out an iPhone this year? I can picture that happening, and Samsung already has their new flagship out. Buying at $150.
Thoughts?

The only way you're going to feel better is by gaining a grasp on what's happening, why, how, and formulating a workable flexible plan.

First of all, what stocks do you own? If you own high quality stocks like MSFT, KO, or the like then just collect the dividend it pays and wait out the storm.
If you own crap stocks or companies you don't feel good about that might have high exposure or are a meme, then look for the small uptick tomorrow (the "dead cat bounce").
There's always a tiny bit of buying after big selling, which means you'd be taking say 445% losses instead of 50%
After that wait a few days or a week (play it day by day paying attention to Covid news, oil news, what the fed's going to do, etc) then look into moving into either a high quality stock or into a good high dividend stock like PTY and collect your dividend while you wait for the market to settle.
Also remember that this is also a buying opportunity, so if you have a job and a budget that includes regular investments, ultimately you'll make back your money and then some.

I don't have the condensed version of this meme image but the fundamental message is correct: assuming the earth keeps on spinning, assuming money keeps inflating every year, assuming production rises every year as more human beings are made, stocks are going to be a better store of value than cash and pay better than the interest rate for a savings account (especially if we end up with negative interest rates)

I'm not so sure about the airlines, I've never flown with AAL, had some bad experiences with United, and for me Delta just works, easy booking, easy website etc. Haven't researched it further but it would be my gut feeling so far. Obviously wouldn't buy without looking into it further, but interesting to keep track of the airlines over the coming weeks.

For oil, I bought Shell. I'm in the Netherlands, and if we have one company that's 'too big too fail' (I know that's a loaded term to use), it's going to be Shell. They've paid dividends every single time since WW2, also throughout the oil crisis of '73, and even the former queen owns a lot of Shell stock. I don't know where you are from though, I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on BP or Chevron.

not currently, no. but in the long term, spanning years? sure. you should probably at least wait for a fundamental reason to believe we're at or near bottom though, and i don't believe you have that my good sir. like, you at least want to be buying at 50%, 60% or better if the bottom is 75% off, 25% means you're probably jumping the gun and just wasting money. this is why FA and TA exist in the first place, to completely ignore them is just foolishness.

Bears are likely to get blown out by the fed crabbing the market through Wednesday. Way too many normies were putting on their bear hats for the first time today, overleveraged, and are going to get shaken out severely from what will likely be the craziest short squeeze we'll have ever seen. The only way this wont happen is if we have an actual great depression tier crash that the Fed can't pump fast enough or circuit break fast enough into a crab.

Friday is shaping up to be a serious nut up or shut up day.

if we stabilize, then it's a lot less likely that you're going to capture a big move, which is why the IV is lower and they're priced lower. asking if they're worth it is the wrong question, and it sounds like you're assuming you'll get big moves after everything calms down, which in most cases you wont.

let alone just the mechanical changes to how the market even works over the last 10yrs
