back to basics then
>day 1 BTC
>day 2 ETH
>day 3 LINK
>day 4 XTZ

read as much about those 4 as you can for at least 2-3 hours, you will grasp basics of Crypto. LINK + XTZ are already proven "gems" that with your capital you can do 50/50 for now and you will decide by yourself what project you like better and shift that into 80/20 in your choosing. investing in BTC/ETH wont give you good reward ratio and with low capital like that, its just not worth it.

Invest only what you can lose, consider your money gone aka spent on something
>im taking this amount of dollars for probability of getting X from it in Y timeframe
crypto is very volatile and risky so for sure understand what you are getting into.

We can go to 0$ tomorrow and this space can cease to exist. Not to scare you away, just understand this is the market condition. More you stop giving a fuck about that money, the more stress you can endure and survive the ride.

Angel investor - read about it and that will be your strategy basically.

then believe that people can exit crashing the whole market back to early 2017 levels aka 1000$ BTC and you wouldn't even have time to watch that graph drop as Binance chart and servers would stop responding by the ammount of traffic. best of luck, don't get into shitcoins shilled by pajeets here (PKN,ICX, etc). they are getting paid and creating fake traffic and discussion. don't buy into coins that lost 90% from all time high in hope for recovery.

also LINK/XTZ threads are basically noise nowadays, search warosu, but also read technicals outside of /biz/, watch videos (not price predictions, technical explanations). dont buy into shilling, never buy a chart after huge influx>>17647091 like this one. buy when it's red and it lose some value.

learn how to read basic order book and what are candles, how to use exchange, wallets, remember every crypto on every exchange will have different adress !

check shit 5 times before sending and making orders, don't make rookie mistakes, learn shit before doing shit.

Hello anon. BTC went down almost 9% and ETH went down almost 14% in the last 24hs. All the other top 10 cryptos went down comparable amounts. So my question is, why do different coins (presumaby unrelated amongst themselves) with allegedly different characteristics all go down so much every 20-25 days, all more or less at the same time? Been regularly following crypto prices or value go up and down over the past say 18 months or so, and many times have seen this sudden drop on all top ten (and others too) pretty much all at once, which to untrained eyes really looks like an organized or concerted action. Why??? What could possibly explain this effect??

I realize there is quite a bit of ingnorance (and mediocre English skills as well....) packed into just this one post, but you did say 'newfag-friendly', so here we are.... thanks.

99% of crypto follows BTC price movement. BTC's price follows its scarcity (cointegrated with stock to flow) whereas most other cryptos are more correlated with BTC price than anything else. Probably because no one knows what else to base shitcoin valuation on.

also market manipulations, market markets, whales(people with huge amounts) taking profits, hype/shill cycles being over.

theres many factors and it's not "number up, number down" game.

Coins follow BTC when it's dominating the market heavily, and when it's making huge moves because it's all traded in SAToshi and most of the volume it's traded in COIN/BTC pairs and COIN/ETH pairs on exchanges.

So you have to take value of BTC/ETH and first buy those to convert into X Coin.

There's also option to buy in USDT or other currencies straight away, but those also follow BTC and ETH pairs and vice versa.

It's kinda simple stuff and dunno why im explaining it to you after you followed crypto for 1,5 years. Next time research more instead of looking at charts :)

And I'm out boys, 2 hours, not so much traffic, I guess everyone knows everything nowadays

Goodnight !

BTC is basically an index to the market. BTC also makes up the bulk of the crypto marketcap. So when BTC go up, market goes up. when BTC go down, market goes down.

Aside from it being the most decentralized coin, being the face of the market, and being the standard entry into crypto, it is also the main trading pair for all of crypto; a unit of value measurement for the market as a whole.

So sometimes when BTC pumps, other coins will dump as people exit their alt positions to participate in upward BTC movement. This is generally followed by a pump in alts as BTC stabilizes and the market feels comfortable seeking alpha elsewhere.

Pretty much always, when BTC dumps the rest of the market dumps as people exit their positions to fiat. LINK is the exception, but not always. Often times LINK will rally on a BTC dump; for a while it had a negative correlation. Nowadays LINK is behaving more and more like the large caps so the correlation isn't as strong as it used to be.

Until then ETH is is your only long term safety net at BTC will be flipped eventually due to the market cap DeFi will create with ETH at the center of the crypto verse.

Idena or any top 3 coins on qTrade. Do research on Idena, rumored to have former anon Ethereum devs since they use Ethereum-go in the architecture. Extremely low market cap, newly listed to a single exchange, and a based consensus method that's not PoW or PoS and solves the issue of sybil attacks that plague crypto. Most of /biz/ still isn't in, not a bad time to buy, plenty of room to grow from here.
