I’d rather buy buffett than try to time buffett.

Delta doesn’t get sweet deals like buffett, you never know what he’s working on. And just like buffett got big chunks of US banks for pennies during the GFC. If DB is really in trouble, I bet guys like him will get to scoop up the pieces and help “bail them out” again.

Anyways I trust buffett and his team and the judgement they’ve shown by keeping so much cash on hand up til now. The airlines are in trouble from the Boeing max already, and now it could be time for more travel bans as the public panics. You do you though.

Everyone said buffett lost it but it looks pretty good to have lots of cash right now. The reason I’m cool with not getting a divvy is I think they could use that money better than I could if they gave it to me directly.

it's literally the core defining factor of a capitalist society.

>Even in the days before perestroika, socialism was never a monolith. Within the Communist countries, the spectrum of socialism ranged from the quasi-market, quasi-syndicalist system of Yugoslavia to the centralized totalitarianism of neighboring Albania. One time I asked Professor von Mises, the great expert on the economics of socialism, at what point on this spectrum of statism would he designate a country as "socialist" or not. At that time, I wasn't sure that any definite criterion existed to make that sort of clear-cut judgment. And so I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity and decisiveness of Mises's answer. "A stock market," he answered promptly. "A stock market is crucial to the existence of capitalism and private property. For it means that there is a functioning market in the exchange of private titles to the means of production. There can be no genuine private ownership of capital without a stock market: there can be no true socialism if such a market is allowed to exist."

okay, if im wrong i get stopped out and lose a little money, no big deal because im probabilistically favored in the long run with my edge. if buy and holders are wrong, they lose 20 years of their life, and probably way more than my measly stop loss loses me if im wrong. i don't hold overnight so catastrophic overnight events don't effect me at all, hell if anything this is a day trader's paradise with all of the volatility and large, obvious trends happening right now.

It’s so simple that it basically can’t be fucked up. As long as you slowly shift your allocation to bonds over stocks as you get closer to retirement, it just works.

Also, you’re much more likely to “make it” if you spend your days working and getting ahead, so you can always be a buyer of stocks and never a seller until you’ve got to start thinking about retirement.

why do you think that means anything? honestly ask yourself, how many day traders out there actually have a system that they've properly backtested, which they follow strictly without letting emotions get in the way? now how many of them trade penny stocks and other unpredictable shit hoping to get rich quick? hell how many of them even use stop losses to begin with?

it's like saying most people fail to become doctors. yet somehow... we still have doctors, plenty of them. most people are in huge amounts of student loan debt for a liberal arts degree. you can't really make the argument that "most traders lose money over time, and so shall you" until you actually get into the details of how these traders are actually trading, because it makes a world of difference. it's similar to the "hedge funds underperform the S&P for all these years so trying to do anything but buy the S&P is just going to fail" statistic that is often misused as well.

That is true. It is a singl-stranded RNA virus just like the regular flu. These viruses lack the same proofreading proteins that are present in our genomes which help prevent disastrous mutations. So these viruses mutate spontaneously all the time. Sometimes it may just be a few bases that change nothing or sometimes you get a few bases in just the right spot that will actually form a functioning new protein within the pathogen. That’s one of the reasons why we need a new vaccine every flu-season.

The stock market will crash. but in a controlled matter. before 2025 more than 10% of the assets will be on blockchain. Cryptocurrency is the reason why the dollarsystem will collapse in a controlled manner.

If you want to buy oil you need dollars. nothing else even Gold. If you add Gold to the market as use of money all the bogus money will be destroyed.

The IMF prohibited Gold as use of money. Since China has a big economy, the chinese dealed with saudis that they are gonna buy their oil with chinese yuan and everything else. But the chinese want to redeem their Yuans only for Gold.

Not even talking about Russia and the lomonosov ridge

Think about it, it's probably about time for aerospace engineers to step up their game and develop an aircraft that can carry both passengers and cargo at the same flight. Air freights are so small, US still depends on WW2 era tech to this day when other countries like Japan are developing high-tech magnetic floating trains. death rate in Italy is 4%, that's not a flu
a flu doesn't give you extremely severe respiratory problems
a flu doesn't give you pneumonia with permanent lung damages
are you really so dumb to believe everything is fine?
also, you can get reinfected cause you don't develop immunity after you recover, and usually the second time it's stronger cause your immune system had to fight hard and it has not recovered
people are dropping like stones on the floor due to other organs being targeted by virus, especially the heart

This coupled with the fact that there are a bunch of dumb ass college students traveling outside of the country to Europe and Asia for spring break because it's "cheap" is going to result in more cases coming back to the US.

Are you denying that stocks will tank when a major U.S. metropolitan area goes under quarantine? In China quarantining an area of 11,000,000 is nothing. In the U.S. that's quite literally 5 - 7% of the adult population and all domestic production and demand. Two areas have to go under quarantine and it's Holobunga for stonks. Italy is going to shit the bed on Monday, and it will illustrate the irresilience of low-pop countries to the consequences of measures necessary to contain/slow the virus.

I think the quarantine will be a good PR move for the U.S. government and will likely trigger a massive bullrun in the stocks as investors will finally see how actually dependable the government is.

The government has already cluster-fucked the response. See the nursing home in Kirkland. Quarantine will not be a good PR move because black people will riot for one reason or another and other wingnuts will be taking pot shots at gov. personnel with AR-15s and other gov. personnel will abuse their power against the people. Did you see what happened after Katrina? Did you see what happened during gas rationing in the 70s? Did you see what happened during the LA riots? America does not respond well to domestic crisis.
