Revised short term price target for oil in light of Russia being bitches: $25. 2016 low territory. With OPEC talks failing there is nothing to prop up the price in short term while demand remains half of what it should be. Weak dollar and rate cuts aren't going to be enough.

It's unbelievable to me that Russia pulled out. They're trying to grab leverage on the sector, I think. No other reason. They can say they're comfy with $40 but they're certainly not going to be comfy at $30, and that is going to happen now thanks to them.

The speculations due to the volatility increase the option's volatility regardless of if you're in the money or not

There are a lot of factors that go into options pricing
You have to consider term and strike price, but also have to consider the greeks (at the bottom in Robinhood).

I have 3 $18 SQQQ put contracts for 6/19 that are up 50% because the market is so volatile, I'm incredibly likely to be able to make a profit at some point before the expiry due to the volatility of the security.

Options are not black and white, but if you have a steady hand, learn the market first, then the options market, you can make a killing.

Hello guys, /sci/ here. I was thinking. This coronavirus surely seems to be doing a trick on the market. It is correct that it is the time to buy stock when the market is low? That is, assuming that the company doesn't go bankrupt or whatever you guys call it. Because I would assume a lot of the stock would go up again when this shit is over, thus I could sell with profit say a year or so. What is the perfect time to buy stock in this crisis? What is the perfect time to sell? Is there any general type of stock that would be better for this?

It all depends

You still have to shop options like you shop stocks, but it depends on what it is.

I bought mattel puts after the intial china spook because it hadn't fallen that far yet. They have a lot of their supply chain in malaysia and other countries close to china so they diden't feel the initial drop. They are, however, a manufacturer of a superfluous good in times of high fear. The price drop would come more slowly.

The hard part about stocks is that by the time you've heard, the event has already been majorly priced in. The hard part about options is that you need to be ahead of those ahead of the curve to guarantee profit.

I usually only by non-volatile stock options for stable industries, but SQQQ is 3x leveraged and daddy wanted to make some money in the obvious turmoil that was coming

Normally you would buy the fud plunge and swing it back up again, but this might maybe not be the optimal strategy since corona quarantines are slowing down the world economy. And since the economy is running on debt...[insert doomsdays scenario here]...but then again... most plunges feel like the end of the world.
You might maybe want to look into this directional indicator.
https://squeezemetrics.com/monitor/download/pdf/short_is_long.pdf
Pic related is a possible doomsday scenario.
Should you decide to buy then buy spxl or soxl for maximum profit but in this case try to avoid as much downside as possible since smth smth volatility decay.
