My dad is a multi-millionaire engineer who is severely depressed and doesnt do anything with his money. All he does is eat the same microwave meals and look at his stocks. I started doing house projects with my dad when this happened. And started taking weekend driving trips. We learned how to do minor carpentry. We also made a garden together.

Also build a routine with your dad, go out to a movie/museum/ play a board game a certain day every week.

There is truth to the cliche "money cant but love" your dad is experiencing loss of love and rejection. Just simply spend time with him and help out in small ways. Maybe microwave his meal for him and eat one with him.
