why would someone pay $10000 instead of $99?

>> No.17446950

nobody does that. look at the price.

the price point on this product makes me believe that they never wanted it to succeed in the first place. the whole things was just a quick way to raise a bunch of cash in an ICO, then fade away. nobody fucking anywhere is going to pay $1+ per document. that's absolutely insane.

Supposedly they "save" AmSpec money (by charging them ridiculous amounts of money for this service). Somehow. Because people are forging temperature data all the time, you see. Nevermind that printed documents cannot be validated, even with a QR code (which you could copy and paste onto a fake document - then have to verify by eye it actually corresponds to the same document).

that's fine. I get that this kind of service could save certain business niches money. what I don't get is why anyone would use V-ID to do this. ffs, it's such a simple app. its literally a tutorial level project if you google for blockchain programming tutorials.
it doesn't cost any more than a transaction to push a hash to the blockchain. so why pay V-ID that much money? AmSpec could easily build the product in house, or save a shitload going with a competitor product like acronis. this is why I just don't believe AmSpec, or any company is actually using V-ID. the network traffic thus far has been given away, guaranteed.

I'm an enterprise software dev, and am constantly building out niche software for targeted business use at my company. this is the sort of project that if it were handed to me, I would estimate 2 weeks. One for initial development, and one for testing and feedback. that's an work estimate, where we guess at how long it will take, then times it by 3-4. it's a weekend side project really.
At this price point, it makes no sense to use a third party service for document verification. just build it in house.

Agreed. I'm willing to bet AmSpec is receiving a heavy discount and possibly only paying a flat subscription fee.

We can verify this by looking at this page from the V-ID white paper, which clearly states that the "per document" revenue model only comes later and in the first few years they intend to make most of their money from licenses and implementations. Licenses being white labeling the service (ChainDocument and Caltrix) and implementations being the team coming to your business and training people. V-ID right now is focused on brand awareness, which would explain why they would give services away to AmSpec for peanuts. Because AmSpec elevates the service and brand credibility of V-ID.
