>what is [leveraged ETF] decay
Something very destructive if you try to hold any commodity based leveraged ETFs hence why I specified index based ones. Take SOXL, a notorious example volatility wise. SOXL crabbed for the entire incipient 3 years of its existence with many dips and bounces of over 70%. You would think volatility decay would have killed your gains. Yet, despite this, and including those first 3 years and many large dips after, it outperformed SPY 30x to 2x. Volatility decay is a real thing and must be respected but it is not something that should scare you away from leveraged ETFs as long as they are based on an equities index or large sector.
The best way to research is to backtest an ETF in question over a long timeframe and see for yourself how the performance compares. Index based leveraged ETFs have been simulated over many decades and TQQQ, UPRO, SOXL, et al vastly outperform their underlying and the overall market. And if that's not good enough you can just open a futures account and get 3x leverage or whatever you want and avoid the rebalancing altogether.

>during consolidation and bear markets you literally blow up
The systematic rebalancing which is most of the point of getting leverage through the ETF is the precise thing that keeps you from blowing up. If you open your futures account, put 16,000 dollars in it and buy 3 contracts of the Micro ES you are 3x leveraged. If you don't rebalance or otherwise tend to your position and the market moves down 34% on you you get liquidated and your money is gone, i.e., you blow up.
On the other hand should you buy a 3x leveraged ETF like UPRO with your $16,000 and the market over the course of a month or so drops the same 34%, you do not get liquidated because the position is rebalanced to 3x leverage every day unlike with the futures position where you would indeed blow up. That's kinda the point.
Synthetic triple leveraged index based ETFs have been backtested to the 1800s, as far back as can plausibly be done with the extant large cap companies that have existed. The leveraged ETF never blew up despite the crash of 1929, black Monday, the GFC and all the little recessions in between. In fact the leveraged ETF massively outperformed the S&P by orders of magnitude despite volatility decay and added fees which have been simulated to many decimal points. If you doubt it then go find the backtesting software of your choice and run the numbers yourself. You will be as surprised as I was.

And they have a presentation next week and have signaled results December. Its not rising on nothing, its going up with 60% institutional investors because anticipation of successful results and a buyout is (Possible). Oh but if you look at TQQQ, it's $88.78, and the $89 01/21/22 Call is $26, with delta being .6618, so you could calculate the leverage from the option as $88.78*.6618/26 = about 2.2598x. Then, since this is a triple leveraged ETF, you multiply by 3x and end up with total leverage of 6.7794x, which is better than either of just holding the 3x ETF or the option on the unleveraged etf.

Something like the $99 TQQQ 01/21/22 Call might also gives you even more leverage while still being low enough that maybe you could finish ITM if you actually held it to expiration, but maybe that's not something people really do with options, idk, I'm a newb to options.

ONE THING EVERYONE IS OVERLOOKING. Is there anyway I can invest in the extinction of bats in China? I feel that one of 2 things will happen. A: The Chinese will ban bats as food and thus all the chinks will eat up as much bat as they can because they believe anything rare or off limits is loaded with penis magic. B: The Chinese go on a bat genocide spree and backed by the government. This will extinct all the bats in China. They will use chemical sprays.

My thought is malaria vaccine companies? Mosquito repellent? Bat meat farms? What's the play here? Can I just buy a massive amount of chinese bats straight out and stock pile them inside my garage? Bat based buisiness ideas? Maybe let local counties lease my bats to control mosquitos and charge a premium for organic pest control? Guys chinese bats have never been cheaper. BUY BATS! Oh he is a blowhard with a tv show, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have information worth listening to.

Not only is he well-connected on Wall Street as a former hedge fund manager, he used to cohost a radio show with Larry Kudlow.
Larry Kudlow is often in the White House and involved in the trade talks and such as “Director of the National Economic Council under President Donald Trump”

But that other anon has a great point about him being a starfucker. He is very complimentary to CEOs and companies because that’s how he can get them to come on his show or give him the scoop. However, he does sometimes get a call the next day about that guest and sort of cringe away from recommending or say it’s really just speculative so don’t put a lot of money in it, etc.

Wait until virus hits the US. It will, think of this like flu season 2.0. It's going to affect some people. Mass hysteria will ensue. Even during this period, wait until the 1 Year yield is greater than the 10 Year yield. Wait for the news media to digest it and report that it happened. After that, the inversion is actually bullish because it's one of the things that will encourage the fed to cut rates.
The best thing to do when this happens: buy SPY LEAPs. Guaranteed 200% returns, potentially 300%. You can speculate on companies for greater alpha, but this one is almost a guaranteed payoff. Spring and Summer will completely eliminate the coronavirus. Short term options aren't guaranteed.

BUTBUTBUT: still in play is the yieldcurve inversion bear trap thesis I subscribe to.
The 3-10 inversion happened in august I believe, and according to this fidelity page
>the US economy has gone into recession an average of 14 months after the inversion of the yield curve

HOWEVER the 10-2 inversion happened... also in August of 2018? Is that right?
anyways
>From 1956, past recessions have started on average around 15 months after an inversion of the 2-year/10-year spread occurred, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

That means every normie armchair trader will be screaming that the recession is happening... eith in October or November?

Honestly you did good, markets are going to dive after a brief bounce tommorow and we're only about halfway down into what we used to call "valuable evaluations". Until then I see no point investing in companies with P/E's over 25 in the current economic climate.

Some staple stocks will start having heros dive to buy in soon, but for the most part everyone is running for exit and taking the market with them

Its not happening. You know why? Last week, 18,19, and 20, there were 200 MILLION SHARES traded at $30+. Thats more volume than ALL TRADES BEFORE the 18th. Thats SIX TIMES the float (aka total trading shares). That means EVERY SINGLE SHARE held by everyone was bought and sold at OVER $30. AND 300 million traded at $30 is $9 billion volume which is more than its entire market cap at any point in time. In just THREE DAYS. These are completely insane stats.

It was the lead up to the great 2019 bull breakout breadth thrust MACD crossover maximum bull run! It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows... but remember when the president got on TV and just begged americans to buy stocks? What a time it was!

Confirmed it can cause cytokine storms which will kill younger stronger immune systems. When your body sends antibodies to attack the virus, the virus gets stronger and overloads your immune system.

This.
Dividend stocks are getting dirt cheap, if you can get some that have already announced their dividend, that is a safe play right now.

suspicious price action patter pwofit and I were talking about a year ago. Rare three day pattern where spx gaps down on open, has a hard green day, gaps down next open, hard green, gaps down, hard green, gaps down. We noticed it a few times, I have no idea what it means but I think he has a conspiracy theory.
If I take that circle off I'll never find such an obscure pattern again kekkies

So now that they confirmed Wuhan patients can get infected with the virus AGAIN after they're cured. Which means they can continue spreading the virus after they recovered. What the fuck do we do? This is the big one.

SNSS is currently in their phase1b testing of Vecabrutinib, a BTK inhibitor that can treat people with CLL mutation (unlike it's competitors) and has significant value as a combination therapy with broader BTK inhibitors. Vecabrutinib was created by Biogen before BTK inhibition was proven to actually work against hematological cancers, and sold to SNSS for unbelievably cheap. Their 400mg cohort data is coming in Q1 2020, and their 300mg dose data showed near theraputic levels of BTK inhibition, including 1 40% tumor reduction, a mere 10% away from Partial Remission, meaning their data this time is likely to show tumor reduction and at least partial remissions. Other BTK inhibitors have shown massive value recently, like ARQL being bought out for 2.7 billion
