Correct. The virus has nothing to do with this crash. The election would have triggered the same response if there was no virus. A recession was inevitable when the 10Y2YS inverted in late 2018. This is a 100% predictor of a recession. The euphoria of 2019 made people forget... there is usually a runup before inversion then a steep and sudden drop. -30% is guaranteed. -50% is possible. I think we could bottom at -60%, but I will be purchasing at -40% to -50%.

Three possibilities:
1. Rumor has it that Iran has a mutated strain of the virus that is deadlier (and rumors that Oy Vey land made that happen).

2. Iran got the virus very early and the spread is massive. The big death toll is only coming from a very large infected population (so not that high death toll)

3. Plenty of young people died in Wuhan too. We are just seeing a different country's media coverage.

converted_date = date_obj.strftime(<your desired format here>)

After Japan’s unconditional surrender on August 14, 1945, the U.S. stock market shut down on Tuesday, Aug. 15 in celebration of the victory. When markets reopened Friday, Aug. 17, they did so smoothly. Rumors of Japan’s surrender had been circulating on Wall Street for more than a week after the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Dow finished Friday’s trading session down 0.25%, indicating that an end to the war was already priced into the market in the near-term. Over the next six months, however, the Dow would rally, gaining 21.2%.

Now the second question is what do you think your tax bracket is now relative to what it will be when you retire. I would guess since you say you don't have much disposable income you should likely go with a Roth IRA. That way you pay taxes on money going in and never have to worry about tax again. Otherwise go with a traditional IRA. Now I'd recommend doing your own research but this should get you started.

You can use the gains without fees or taxes for a few select expenses, something like 10,000 towards your first home down payment, another 10 for college for you or your spouse or your kids. Stuff like that.

Here in reality, nobody can time the market. Warren Buffett can't do it, Ray Dalio can't do it. The best you can do is cautiously buy on a day like this where the Dow has plunged. The idea is that there will be number cuts and issues in both supply and demand and the group is only down like 10% after rallying 100%. It could still cool off considerably. And some might be bigger losers than others. There may be delays on this 5g rollout. Delays and numbercuts, the downside risk is not baked in.

Is it smart to check the price of tqq calls every day and see if I can get lucky to find a day when people are feeling bearish plus implied volatility is low to get some cheap leaps? Or is implied volatility not important on long expiry options?

>Can I get more leverage on the 3x ETFs by buying calls on them 2 years out?
Yes. The easiest way to calculate implied leverage on an option is multiply the underlying by the delta and divide by the price of the option. If you are going to buy options on leveraged ETFs though I'd suggest getting the option on the unleveraged version. So instead of TQQQ go for QQQ. An example for QQQ which has a share price of $216.16 is the December 16th 217 call is priced at $29.82 with a delta of 0.6488.
So 216.16*0.6488/29.82 is 4.7. If you buy that call your effective leverage is 4.7x instead of the 3x you would get with TQQQ. If you go for a higher strike price or a closer expiration the leverage will obviously be higher.

Not cope but TA serves one singular decent purpose. Almost every indicator keeps noobs who otherwise can't get out of their own way from buying high and selling low. Other than that they are no better than just "buying the dip" which as it turns out is a hell of a lot better than selling the dip and buying the pump, two things most noobs would be wont to do without the help of the guiding meme lines. To put it bluntly almost every single indicator in existence can be reduced to making sure people don't buy high and sell low. The minute you figure that out is when you start trading naked charts and get out of babby tier mode cuz you won't need the training wheels anymore.

>what is decay
Something very destructive if you try to hold any commodity based leveraged ETFs hence why I specified index based ones. Take SOXL, a notorious example volatility wise. SOXL crabbed for the entire incipient 3 years of its existence with many dips and bounces of over 70%. You would think volatility decay would have killed your gains. Yet, despite this, and including those first 3 years and many large dips after, it outperformed SPY 30x to 2x. Volatility decay is a real thing and must be respected but it is not something that should scare you away from leveraged ETFs as long as they are based on an equities index or large sector.
The best way to research is to backtest an ETF in question over a long timeframe and see for yourself how the performance compares. Index based leveraged ETFs have been simulated over many decades and TQQQ, UPRO, SOXL, et al vastly outperform their underlying and the overall market. And if that's not good enough you can just open a futures account and get 3x leverage or whatever you want and avoid the rebalancing altogether.

im aware how futures work
im talking more about the laundry list of other 3x inverse leveraged ETFs that waddle around or decay rapidly

there used to be some funky ways (since regulated) that hedges could make DOSH off that stuff. i remember some dude came on here wasted as fuck like 3 years ago and explained it all. used to have the archive. it was really interesting

point is, 2x leverage is more or less all you wanna do if youre trying to do the buy and hold meme with those things. especially in a market where the VIX isnt like 8 for half a decade. imo the 3x ones should only really be used defensively, for short term action. but way too many retail fags nuke themselves on those things. ESPECIALLY the inverse ones

I agree on inverse ETFs and have only used them very sparingly and for very short holding periods. I also mostly agree with the thing about 2x rather than three particularly if you're just letting it ride. I hold SOXL, TECL, FNGU, and SPXL but I closely monitor the positions and the overall market.

Fuck man if you could dig that archive up and link it in the next thread I'd really like to read it

it was lost somewhere in the digital library of alexandria

dude was rather vague, and like i said, really drunk/coked up
but he was talking a LOT of shit, and seemed to know the score

you may be able to find it on like waruso if youre feeling particularly autistic about it. iirc it was maybe a month or so after volpoccalypse (so i guess only 2 years ago)

yea
this is the only part of this botnet thats worth anything anymore imo (even still, i dare not post tickers or positions on here, which kinda ruins a lotta the fun desu). /smg/ is just another valuable news crawler in the toolkit as far as im concerned. plus its not like i can talk about this kind of stuff to anyone i know irl.
but jannies are always banning my IP ranges so i dont come around much anymore.
also fuck google and how they crank up the captchas by a factor of 10 for proxys. plus they take waaaaay longer to load. awful cunts

i know i know
>buy a pass
that cunt gets none of my shekels
you can call it petty. i call it principal
that 4chan gold account shit used to be a meme here for ages.
then the madlad actually went and did it
and people fucking bought it
insane

i feel like such a fag for ever using a trip desu
i only used it for a couple weeks too, mostly to shitpost, as /biz/ was insane back then during the crytpo bull (and almost no moderation at all, as they had given up. awesome).

most of the other very occasional times were to prove i wasnt a bot, but id just use the proud 5% shareholder in UVXY one, or one of my mike tyson ones

trips are kinda pointless imo. its pretty easy to recognize the people you know ITT. and its then safe to assume that 90% of everyone else is a some cunt trying to shill you their bags.
even after months of not being on here i can always pick out sundown or nikkei immediately.

>eh I'm sure theres a free way around it.
man, if you find a way to crack google captcha reliably youd be rolling in it. most "reliable" method currently, as far as i know, is pajeets that get paid a penny per captcha

a thoroughly satanic bit of code
