No one here can adequately explain to me, my mother or my 23 year old neighbor what any crypto does and why one is valued different from the other without using the term ‘abject speculation combined with blunt manipulation’

Warren buffet is an old school investor, his investment strategy is taking advantages of an imperfect market, seeing something as undervalued relative to it's likely future value and then invest.
This kind of investment strategy is entirely based on value you can see, P/E, projected marketshare, growth of market, etc.

Watch this video of Buffet and Munger talking about "how they missed the tech companies on the rise". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9x8by0HjmA
They talk about the tangible value they could see.. not that "information has value", not design or branding has value, but easily measurably things - that is how they measure every investment.

For crypto there is no market, there is no real value (as of right now), the only reason to invest is that you believe that decentralization has a value, which is a rather abstract thing to invest in.
In this regard it is oddly similar to investing in Facebook or google early on, where they had no natural way of generating income and by any traditional way of evaluating a company you wouldn't have been able to predict how big it could be - only by thinking in abstraction, that these companies gather information and can to some extend control the flow of information, then you would have recognized the value of these companies early on.

This. Buffet is right, he just wants to know where your revenue is coming from, who your buyers are, what your costs are. Basic shit. Crypto projects struggle to describe what the hell their business model is. They always fall back on vague language about how they're revolutionizing something or other, but they rarely have projections of what they expect their cash flow to be that doesn't include a bunch of random dipshits buying the coins, and then people trading the coins like they're real estate except they are attatched to an online storefront that lets you buy MP3s with them or something. Somebody like Buffet just looks at this and says "what is the point of the 'cryptocurrency' here?" and the company starts trying to give a TED talk about how this will change the way people buy MP3s from an online store because now they get to use their shitcoin to do it, and the more people that use their shitcoin the more valuable in dollars their shitcoin will get so people can then cash out of the MP3 store by selling their shitcoin. Buffet knows this is a pump and dump scam and just walks away.

Remember how everyone used to say 1 BTC will be worth like 1 million dollars soon?
Is it still gonna happen bros?
