Is zinc a precious metal? How do I invest in it?

Published: November 4, 2010

>Increasing the intracellular Zn2+ concentration with zinc-ionophores like pyrithione (PT) can efficiently impair the replication of a variety of RNA viruses, including poliovirus and influenza virus. For some viruses this effect has been attributed to interference with viral polyprotein processing. In this study we demonstrate that the combination of Zn2+ and PT at low concentrations (2 µM Zn2+ and 2 µM PT) inhibits the replication of SARS-coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and equine arteritis virus (EAV) in cell culture.

> Silver is an industrial metal.
I never said that silver isn't an industrial metal. It's just that on top of that there's also monetary demand for silver, which doesn't exist for palladium and platinum. Those are pure industry metals. Buying those is purely for speculation purposes.
> It hasn't been seen as a store of value for 50 years.
The price of silver is heavily manipulated. More than any other metal. And it is historically a store of value. In the last 50 years all the countries in the world have had purely fiat currency systems pegged to nothing. Never in the history of mankind has a situation like this happened. All countries in the world using fiat currencies and all of those currencies pegged to absolutely nothing tangible. Taking the last 50 years as an example for anything in terms of monetary system is idiotic.

Never bought any precious metals except for jewelry etc.
I wanna buy a 1kg 2020 australian koala coin. It costs 690USD. Is it too much or should i just buy a 1kg silver bar? Buying a bar would tax me 25%, coins are tax free.
I dont want to do it for investment purposes, i dont look to make any money on it(though it would be nice), i just wanna own something of value like that.

Reminder that metals are designed to preserve wealth not create it.
The only time gold or silver will make you rich is if we enter a hyperinflationary cycle. Which admittedly is guaranteed to happen in the US, but could be decades away.
Nothing wrong with owning gold or silver, I own a bunch, but if you're looking to gain money you should be looking at stocks or crypto.

Strong this. Don't advertise or volunteer information, but don't rely on secrecy as a defense measure either. A medium safe bolted to concrete slab in a corner or closet (which you should have anyways for your firearms) will work for any smash n grab, and will buy you a pretty good chunk of response time in case of a targeted grab.
