Deciding on stocks can be so difficult, Square Enix seems like a good buy because FFVIIR is a guaranteed success, but I don't won't to buy while they're stock is still dipping in case I buy too early.

Meanwhile, Sony are rumoured for a March/April unveiling of the PS5, but even that has me looking at Square Enix again because a surprise PS5 launch title announcement for it would make perfect sense given that it was delayed to April all of a sudden.

Still episodic, but they're adding a mountain of content onto each one allegedly. The first is entirely set in Midgar but they added more shit like content actually set on the upper plate. I can't see it being any more than 3 episodes overall though, maybe even 2 if they're nice about it.

they are making a mistake. a lot of fans will buy it for the nostalgia and then they won't buy episode 2/3 later because they already had their nostalgia trip filled. so income will go down because now they sold a bunch of 25 USD products instead of the same amount of 60 USD products. and reviews/recommendations will suffer. there's so much to play today, i don't think customers will come back later to finish the story that they started a year earlier. episodic content was tested in the past and proved to be a bad model. nobody actually likes year long cliff hangers. there's also the risk of inconsistency in quality between the game parts, better to just do everything at once.

no that's just an excuse. and if what >>17331412 said is true they padded the episodes with content, so all that work could be spent elsewhere to finish the whole thing instead. then release that extra content later as DLC. it's a shame they treat ff7 like this because the experience will suffer. it's no fun to get involved in a game and then all of a sudden it is halted for a year, then you're expected to jump back in where you left off. you won't feel the same involvement.

also i hope they aren't kidding themselves that they can release this as three parts at 60 USD each instead of one part at 60 USD. sure graphics are better today but it's not like the tools to create those graphics aren't better either.

In poker, some years back, there was a concept called FGator Dollars. Now, a little store on FGator: he had been playing online poker at microstakes for a couple of years and posting on 2+2. After about 2m hands, he decided to post his graphs. He was a 10bb/100 loser over 2m hands. He was a perfect player, however, he claimed, and was just in a runbad.

However, other players analyzed his hands found where he was weak out: he never bluffed. He always wanted to get the most premium hands and only bet the max with those. This meant that he wasn't picking up a high number of smaller pots and that he had a higher suckout rate than other players.

Everyone knew FGators never bluffed, so when they had a straight or flush draw, they'd play against him and make him make bad equity plays. No one folded against his all ins because they couldn't tell if he had it or not, but because they knew for a fact he had it.

All of this meant that he missed the actual good hands. Playing more poker hands would allow him to actually catch more profit. Time in the market beats timing the market. FGator dollars are the dollars you would make had you incorporated a bluffing strategy in your play, and the money saved from not getting sucked out on as much from players looking to bust pocket aces.

passive income is basically meaningless marketing snake oil. there's little effective difference between taking a dividend pay out versus selling the stock for the same amount of income. the source of income should be irrelevant in terms of how you take your gains and focus on tax consequences and diversification instead.

i need some income so i qualify for obamacare subsidies. under a certain amount of income you'll get put in the medicaid pool and they evaluate your assets. as far as i'm aware, obamacare is only based on income.

yes i plan on taking advantage of the system, and yes i feel bad about it. i'll be doing it anyways.

>this: imagine getting into a dividend paying stock that's paying you 150% a year while having your principal go up 5x within a month.
so instead of a wildly successful company using all of it's resources to grow further, it's forced to reign in it's success so it can pay it's shareholders. again, the value of your shares drop by the exact amount you receive in dividends. except you lose control of when you take that profit.
so if you think it's a bad idea to sell shares right after a crash, then you better cross your fingers that it doesn't coincide with a dividend date. because it's effectively the same thing.

Stock sales are treated as Capital Gains or Losses and taxed at a different rate.
Dividends are treated as ordinary income and are taxed at your income tax bracket rate.
Due to capital gains rates being lower than your ordinary tax rate, it is better to receive capital gains in the majority of circumstances.

yeah, sometimes. and sometimes the company could really use that money to function. that's less about how you take profits and more in the general research you should be doing when buying a company.
I'm not saying avoid dividends, most stocks have some payout. but seeking out dividends for dividend's sake is retarded.
