Simply put, selling and buying securities can be done faster and cheaper on blockchain than with current processes.

so yes, smart contract platform, but which users know is automatically regulation compliant (formal verification), and can evolve and be updated to stay compliant if there is a change in regulation.
In other words, if you need to sell a house, you can test run the sale on the chain, and if the test gives a green-light, you can execute the transaction on the chain with a 100% certainty you ticked all the right boxes. All of that faster and cheaper than the way it's done now.

And that's one of many things, xtz could do, but that alone is a trillion $ marketcap

tezos can be used as a currency, but Bitcoin is king on that segment, while the STO market is wide open, and most crypto-currency don't have the features required to deploy in that space. Any coin that can fork is an absolute no-no for the finance sector .
