What does /biz/ think of penny stocks? I'm looking to start getting involved with the stock market and figured it would be a good start. II've been doing some homework and have come to these conclusions:

>Penny stocks are not the same as more expensive stocks. They are more volatile and don't entirely follow the same general rules/ tactics involved with trading, say, Tesla.
>Swing trading seems to be a good option, if you have the touch for trading and make a few good trades each month. Also ought to have the income to make this worthwhile.

A few questions:
>What does everyone do to pick the stocks they invest in? What sort of research do you do to determine if a stock is worthwhile?
>How much money should you try to utilize towards stocks to make it worthwhile?

Medfag, so my background lies in a different domain. I find this world of business/finance to be something I am largely ignorant of.

>What does /biz/ think of penny stocks?
Speculative bullshit in which you are very likely to lose more money than you make. If you are new to investing, don't buy them. First set up your ETFs as long term investments, replacing the investments you pay people to manage. This can save you up to 2% a year without taking on any more risk. Then you can choose a handful of stocks you also want to buy as long term investments, in hopes that they will outperform your ETFs. At that point, you should be free to speculate with a small percentage of your portfolio, but it's unlikely you'll find many penny stocks that will beat select large cap stocks.

Tesla isn't a normal stock, but as far as penny stocks.

it's about valuation of products that aren't even made yet. Futher expected growth and profit. I was offered 7 million for my company once and balked at the offer. The company is easily valued 10 times that now.

Stocks shouldn't be treated as a get rich quick scheme, I mean in regards to penny stocks sure you can make or break, but look at it from a sheer numbers perspective. You've got nano.cap fucker call it ticker symbol NIG trading at $30, and the market cap of that NIG is like say 10 million. mean while you got GER call it same fucking shit. worth 10 million, but share price is $0.29... you can't tell me these two hypothetical companies are nothing less than equal.

Statistically speaking, it's easier to make money in options than with naked stock. First you have your commissions and fees, which, thankfully, are super cheap today, and then you have to beat the spread.

Do research on the micro structure of the stock market, then. Figure out what you're actually doing when you're placing a bid for a stock and what happens when that order is executed and how it affects both parties. Once you're good with that, start looking into the derivatives: options.

ONTX has the makings of a diamond in the rough deal. Read the pdf on the site. The potential profit/use cases for the drug is nuts. And that is just for the one currently in Phase 3. They have others in lessor stages in the works. The reason the stock is at the low point now has shit to do with any drug setbacks or anything dealing with the drug itself. Rather it's due to them needing money. Now that they have cash out the ass till 2021 they are rolling full speed ahead getting the Phase 3 drug out the door (and bringing in shitloads of Profit). People shit on them. But people said the same about Amazon at one point. Now look at Amazon. Once they release the Phase 3 data, well, lots of people will be jumping on the train, lots of people will be saying "sorry" and "I told you so". Most importantly those who are in it now will be coming out dragging a Fat Green Bag stuffed with cash.

It goes good in an omlette with onions and peppers. Wash that shit down with some black coffee and don't forget as far as cheeses go.... The short road to profitability is one of the nicest things about SPCE in the short term; they have a clear plan to make positive earnings within only a few years. They're inherently slower and don't have any competitive edge in commercial cargo launches nor in point to point travel. A Falcon 9 gets up to 39,600 km/h, SpaceShipTwo can only do 4,000 km/h, which is twice as fast as a Concorde jet but a Concorde was only $12,000 per seat, not 250k to a million . Coupled with the fact they they're brought up by slow moving aircraft means they're even slower in some instances than a Concorde would be.

The only use case for this that isn't bullshit is space tourism. The problem is Virgin flights cannot get beyond 110km in altitude, and they're only in space for five minutes. They're competing against companies that can go five times that distance without using a heavy lifter and bring people into long term orbit. They can have space hotels, entertainment/dining places, and eventually whole cities. People that can afford to go to space for tourism purposes will largely will want to do those things rather than spend five minutes in space with Virgin. Those are just the physical problems, but there are other major problems with their business model on top of this like very low margins and crawling development.

I'm sure SpaceX (or another company) could do it better, cheaper, and quicker.
The reason the ISS is what it is because of politics and budgetary restrictions. If there was any strong case (profits) to make the ISS, I'm sure a private company would take a go at it.
For now, it might be too expensive to be worth the smallish returns from a 'space hotel' type of thing, but I'm sure that in our lifetimes we'll see it done.

They're in the discussion because once Crew Dragon launches, they along along with Starliner can get the top tier of space flight tourism industry. They can hold up to seven people and they can bring them up to the ISS as tourists, providing they pay NASA $35,000 a night. The business model is already in place.
>>17261620
>You're over here talking about space hotels while in reality a long-term space platform requires the cooperation of no less than 15 nation states.
The ISS isn't the same as a small module that doubles as a space hotel, on top of a space other things. It doesn't have to be complex, just have life support for them and a docking mechanism. This is what Bigelow Aerospace is doing, they already tested a module on the ISS itself. They can hire SpaceX or Blue Origin to bring people there and back. With Starship, the seat costs drop below anything Virgin can do. Starship can have seat prices that are only 75K and they can produce them at a much faster rate.

I learned supply and demand when I was in middle school thanks to a student teacher, who was replacing a woman who may have been negatively impacted by the events on september 11th 2001, or something, I was too busy rolling dice, got these dark ones that were made of some composite material light as nothing, and blended in with the floor you couldn't even hear the dice game going on in the back of the class room. we'd play for quarters or dollars, shit got shut down when some kid went to student teacher and asked for money to play the dice game. damn that was fun, anyways as I was saying supply and demand. Demand exists for things that are intangible, and those things are the most profitable. Thats the service economy head nigger and grandma yellen were talking about. INTangible goods aren't like anything more than ideas. Sure you can spend money on data, but true intangibles are relationships. Prepare for an enormous amount of frustration. It takes relatively little money to manipulate a penny stock which means that is going to be the norm outside of good news days. Trends don't hold, nobody has faith in their position, and just a little bit of short pressure will cause the herd of cats to scatter to the wind. I’m buying on Monday.

Looking at VDIGX, SCHX, SPYX, and possibly QQQ

I’m bullish and not wasting my time and money waiting for a pullback anymore. The pullback for WuFlu was so damn quick. The liquidity is there, and the FOMO is there. I may lose a few % but I don’t expect a “correction” during the first half of the year.

I will still have a pretty big cash position though, and may add to my gold until I see a nice opportunity present itself. I’m liking TSN and ABBV if they dip a bit more.

>>17262243
I’m buying shares on V and MA, adding on any weakness. Wish I’d bought wayyy more MA when it was pulling back for no reason last year. Oh well!

Don’t know wirecard, and I doubt NVDA will pull back substantially. Everyone knows cloud and data centers are exploding and machine learning and autonomous driving have major hype. I just want to know how exposed AMAT and NVDA are to China hubei and WuFlu.

I know. Same with AMD. I would not bet against them long term. But short term they may have problems because so much chip manufacturing is based in China.

All while making a shit 27k a year salary. Yeah I make shit, but you know at least I'm not up to my ass in debt, have some money stashed in the bank, and doing all I can to make damn sure when I "retire" in 11 years and enter my old age years in 28 years that I don't gotta worry about shit. Ha is that supposed to be Quasimodo's outline? Any closet is a walk in closet if you try hard enough I guess.

Anyway what ex-US stocks should I load up on /smg/? I need to rebalance over the next for years and already have some etfs for diversification (VEU, EWJ, EWG).

Anon, hydrogen is lighter than air. It literally cannot crash. It can only go up.

Plz shekelbros help me. I am looking to diversify my dividend paying stocks outside of the US. Looking at commodities/utilities in LatAm or other 'emerging markets' (nigs and spics). Eletrobras looks nice. Anyone else got any good picks?
