Not all the way back in 2007 but got in around 09/10. Don’t wanna be one of those good ol days guys but yeah /b/ was the shit, /biz/ didn’t feel like it was full of children and underage which even now it shouldn’t feel like it because you’ve got to be 18+ to trade but it just does. /mu/ used to be really good as well, not sure how it is now. Remember that guy who used to cum in bottles around Christmas? Remember candlejack? Holy shit so much time has passed it’s insane

I think I started coming around 2004 or 2005, not sure. I started off going to FARK around 2002 or 2003ish, and kept hearing about 'those weirdos at 4chan' or whatever. After making various lightly racist jokes and black humor quips at Fark and people responding badly, I felt more at home at 4chan (/b/). Back then /b/ was more interesting topics/news/political stuff. Now it's just lewd newds mostly.

I don't have my original folder anymore, but here's an image saved on Sept 1st, 2009.

4chan went to hell after the media attention around project chanology in late '07 early '08. The creation of /pol/ and /r9k/ pretty much killed /b/ as a mixed media/text board with a general focus as anyone having normal. The retards spamming generic low grade porn did the rest.

Some boards have bucked the trend and remained basically the same. Weeaboo boards are still the same, /g/ is the same. /bant/ and /s4s/ have recaptured something of the old /b/ spirit. I'm more optimistic than at any time in the past decade for the future direction of this site's culture.

Also obligatory FUCK I'M 30.

I've literally been coming here since I was a goddamned teenager, but unironically, it changed my life. I started using Linux cause of /g/ and today I'm a cloud systems architect.

It feels like I've been here forever. This fucking website has affected my entire life and being. I remember being a /mu/tant and trying to show my friends ITAOTS in middle school(lel). I also remember worshipping Zyzz in high school.

But somewhere deep in my mind, I have faint dreamlike memories of habbo raids and Jesse Slaughter....

We used to sometimes host little rooms on synctube style group watch channels (can't remember the site from back then, but you could have a YT video and webcams) and you'd get a few hundred anons joining, watching animu and shitpost videos, and like 20 anons on the webcams fapping to the one cam of the crossdressing dude in the thigh-highs

>Also how do I into computer /g/enius

Obligatory "install gentoo" but rly, install Arch, use it as your daily driver and don't give up when you run into difficulty, that goes for gaming too. Commit yourself to only playing the games you can get working (99% of them will with even a cursory effort), forget about Windows and MS ecosystem entirely, it's a dead end. Winadmins in my company are the laughing stocks we badger when your AD permissions need changing. There are any number of free courses and badges you can get, because every two-bit company wants people to learn their garbage framework. In the cloud space it's still all about containers, and luckily the learning resources for the major frameworks are free. Openshift, Kubernetes and Docker. Learn that shit inside out and it's guaranteed 6 figures, degree or no. Learn an automation framework to go with it, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, whatever. Start writing scripts. Start *reading* scripts. Do little projects of your own, even if they don't go anywhere.

Fuck that. If everybody had hoarded, crypto never would've taken off. Within a week of Bitcoin launching, I let my PC mine it overnight. I got 0.7 BTC, realized it wasn't worth the electricity I'd spent on it, and deleted the client, the wallet, everything. No regrets. I refused to play the amateur wall street trader, and when I did get some BTC, I spent it on weed, then spent the change on weed, then spent the change of that on an even greater amount of weed.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT'S FUCKING FOR.

Likewise, that one dude who spent 20,000BTC on a pizza. Maybe if he never did, it never took off at all? He probably still got extremely rich.

Motherfucking wannabe Gordon Gecko bitches ruined cryptocurrency, and doomed it to never realize it's potential as a real, usable currency. Reduced it to dutch tulips and bait for foolish asians to blow their money on.

It's probably because I'm pretty financially secure, and not clinging to pipe dreams of getting rich through crypto trading.

There's a certain amount of clarity financial security gives you. Anyway, I keep a portfolio seeded from about $100. It's worth $350 now, so that's fun.

But that's all it is. FUN. Fiddle money to throw at a few outside chances, of no particular consequence or concern.

I sleep fantastically at night.

Found one from earlier, July 2008.

/biz/ split from /g/ in the sense that /g/ used to be the default board to discuss crypto. /biz/ was never about business, besides a few half-hearted attempts in the very early days to have threads about it. The demographic here is just too young and poor.

Yeah exactly. A few years ago I used to let that sort of stuff get to me emotionally but now that I’ve got a job I really enjoy and make good money, and already made pretty good money from crypto actually I’ve realised it doesn’t really matter.
